These are not the balsam. These are the bushy impatiens that don't make seeds.

I've tried twice before to take cuttings from these plants without success. I tried rooting them in water and they died within days and that is with rooting hormone, indirect light, and sitting on top of the refrigerator where it is warmer than the house in general.

Now I am trying to root them in moist soil. I did a 45 Degree cut on the branches removed all the flower buds and dipped them in honey since I've misplaced my rooting hormone. I'm still placing them on top of the refrigerator with the other cuttings.

Is there anything I'm not doing that I should be? I've been told over and over that it is really easy. But, it hasn't been for me.

Well the third attempt has failed. They wilted just as fast as if I had cut them and layed them in the sun. I guess I'm just going to have to get used to paying for the plant in the fall. Mine is dead now because it froze yesterday night when the temperatures plummeted.
