Kids gave me a new wisteria and it is not very big yet but seems to be doing ok but I just noticed that I have a new shot that is on the very top that is turning brown all the rest of the plant is good and green doing fine I see no bugs or funges signs on it at all are summer is about done now and I have it covered with beautey bark and all ready for the winter but was woundering if this is some thing that this plant does or what is going on. Any one have any idea's?

A picture would be helpful. If I remember my wisteris, at this time of year some of the newer shoots would dwindle down as the plant got ready for winter.

I trim mine back once we get cooler.I leave 6 nodes,they will grow alot unless its evergreen wisteria which is not invasive.It could just be some transplant shock maybe? is the part that turned brown where was newer growth that was not woody yet?sometimes that part will die back.If you cut the brown off to good growth thats green at a node it should continue on.

thank you all I will cut it back and see how it does it is now turning a redish brown but only on the top of it it is a single shot that is off and running and it is still growing will try to get a picture if it ever stops with the down pour around here. Thanks again
