there is nothing better than going out on a sat or sun afternoon and picking your own super! small 'harvest', but I was still excited and proud! 3 garden beans, which we just munched on raw. some were sour and some sweet??? didn't seem to mater the size? one pepper...big jim??? (hhmm...doesn't sound right, but the variety is jim or joe..??) some basil leaves and some cilantro gone corriander. we were throwing fish on the pit so the 'harvest' (except for the beans) were wrapped up snug with the fish and some butter..and lemon..onions....mmmm..mmmmm. oh, and my maters are pretty green and marble size!

Criket--stop bragging here in Illinois I have no tomatoes in yet and my spinach and green onions are small yet. But then I am container gardening this year---your meal sounds yummy. I do have some chives, sage and asparagus growing though.

well, if it makes you feel any better I haven't actually eaten the 'great super'. been dealing with an old foot injury. If I would have just stuck with sitting the pit I'd be ok. but NO....I gotta drag around a hose and water, and plant some okra, and add some pine straw mulch to the cant's. now my foot is killing me so i feel sick at my stomach. ha ha (just when did gardening turn into an addiction for me?) I'll have a great lunch tomorrow though! and I can bet in your zone you'll out do me with the spinach! I wanna grow some oragano. never tried that but use it alot in my cooking.

well I hope the spinach grows o k. I may have gotten it started too late---but then with the cool weather hanging on--I may be ok. See, I cannot lift a lot of weight this year so I had to wait until I got some help to get my 'pots' situated.--next year should be great. I am planting basil I think.--DH brought me some home from one of his co-workers last year--I mad a yummy spaghetti sauce with it---and so now I think I need my own. about your oregano---are you going with seed or a plant? PS sorry about your foot--mine is just about healed---it is hardly swollen at all now.

ok, I wrote a response...then took a restroom break....and maybe hit back instead of send??? sorry if this is a duplicate. I've always grown maters, peppers, cukes, squash. EVERY thing else is new to me. but, with my garden habit growing, from now on everything will be from seed. I'll spend my garden budget on soil, hoses, stones, whatever. so, oragono will be from seed. 'congrats on bean harvest'..???? if I didn't feel I knew you better I'd think you were being sarcastic since I only picked three beans! ha ha. j.k. I know you meant that whole heartedly.

i put my peppers out last weekend and some of them were blooming already, the lemon balm and thyme are going crazy as usual, and i have purple basil coming up Everywhere, including the lawn.....masses of it. ugh. my bad. when i came home at the end of the summer i just jumped into the garden and started yanking out all the basil, not realizing how much had gone to seed already, and throwing it out onto the lawn. paying for that now! i should get a picture of it, it's even sprouting in the pathway cracks. YIKES

It's gonna be a long way till harvest. yea, but it's not too late. they'll produce something. I get mad when I have something I want to transplant and here comes my daughter! she wants to do it. I get pushed out of shape cause I want it planted just right, but then it's also nice when the fam can do stuff together and enjoy growing together. take a deep breath and seperate when you feel the time is right.
