I never chop anything. I used to use a maul and wedges to split wood but now I have gas wood splitters. I also do not cut down large trees. I would leave that to more professional people than I am. The largest I have ever cut was about 6 inches diameter. I would never cut down a giant redwood. I would move or remove my house first if it was threatened by one. The wood I grow to burn is mostly eucalyptus. I love it because you can cut it down and it will regrow long straight trunks to cut again. You don't have to kill it off. It is clean burning wood. I have pine trees too but prefer not to burn them in my stoves. They do not burn very clean or put out as much heat. Picky about my wood. I was shopping today. A little for Christmas. I like to have things on hand for gifts in case someone shows up unexpectedly.

I have a resort next door that attracts tourists. They do walk around all over my little plot. I do not object. There are a few trees that will regrow after cutting. willows usually will too. And our weather is nicely conducive to that. But the eucalyptus can be hard to get rid of due to that feature as well. So planning when planting is necessary.

Barb, I can see where that would be a sad thing--but yet it must have been nice to have one last gift as well...
If any one is around, I think I will be here for many an hour----between my mood and my 3-1/2 hour nap that I took this afternoon, I do not see me going to sleep any time soon. :(

yea I guess I slept some----remember my praises for my cataract surgery in my first eye?? well, there will be no such praises going on for this eye--
all of you..... Please save up so you can buy yourself the good lenses should you need cataract surgery. Have I mentioned how this healthcare system sucks??? Cause it surely does. Who puts 2 different brands of lenses in a person's body????
Please pray that my "good" eye never goes bad.

Good Afternoon-- Barb: what I mean is if I had of somehow gotten the extra $$$ for the lenses that let you see well both near and far, they likly would have been the same brand and also I would know that I was seeing the very best I could. This way I have 2 differnt brands in my eyes and one is clear and wonderful and the other is :OK" because I am using the 2 eyes together--and yes I am hopeful my eye site will improve--it has some today already. and yes the "bad" will get better with time and I know this but still I worry what my site could be if I ever should lose the use of my right eye--- Cindy---today the DR that examined me, (& he spent a LONG time doing so) said he just knows what they are supoposed to look like when they are healing--& I need to speak to DR Jones (the Dr that did the surgery) so he can explain to me why the different site in the 2 eyes & why the differnt brands & so he w ill know I am not happy--he said they a. To that end my next appointment is with said Opthalmologist the 23rd. Tina--- thank you so very much-- -and yes I think it will get better with time---we can only hope both eyes will be seeing the same in a few weeks...

Carol I am lost an confused on this issue. Everyone I know 2 sis an sis in law an brother had just the distance vision, No regrets ............. Said you cant have both.??????
Are you telling me you would not have a problem if you got the ones with both?
Are they the same brands/
Why are the cheap ones 2 differnt brands? Is that how its done?
All my life I have one eye sees distance better than the other, an one eye sees close better than the other????????????
I know our providers pay for it , but not lenses .. One pair.

G Diane, glad to hear that everything is going so well---This should truely be a wonderous Christmas for you all. I think of you often---take care & God Bless.
Barb---- I do not have regrets, so much as I think if I had of gotten the lenses that medicare nor my insurance will pay for (I am, not old enough to be on medicare yet) that they would have definately been ok. the lenses that you "can" g et let you see both near and far perfectly without any need for glasses---here they cost $2600.00 per eye...the ones that my insurance and medicare pasy for is around $150.00 an eye..
See, there is not that much wrong with my left eye--and if both eyes had of had the same lense then I would not have known the difference at all---but as it is now, the one eye sees closer, brighter and more clearly--and the other sees things smaller (further away) and is not as clear nor as bright--- I am hoping there is a reason for this turn of events---if I had of had either eye's lense in both eyes I would have been happy as a clam, because I would not have known any better & it would all been good
I have NO idea why they are different brands--I was told the dr specifically picks out the lenses himself---At my appt with him this next friday I will hopefully find out

Happy Saturday to all. It is a cold, blustery morning with 70 mph wind gusts. I think I will try to get more indoor stuff done today and finish up wrapping gifts. I have a lot done but there is more to do. We will probably be breaking our family gifting into 2 sections depending on who is here when. I don't think my youngest daughter will be here on Christmas Day.

Carol, I actually tasted a little of the "cookie" and it was good. Could not eat more than one tiny bite, though, because I don't like anything sweet. My dad will love them...but since we just found out he is diabetic I don't know how that's going to play out. Mom said he would be able to eat a few of them. Brennan is passing through London today and I get to run to the interstate when I get the phone call, just long enough to give him a Granny Hug!

Mom said he would be able to eat a few of them. I think how it works now is as long as the numbers are right at the end of the day all is good--and thses cookies only have like 1/2 cup of Powdered sugar in them , well p lus waht is on the outside--If I am thinking right, it is the butter/margarine that your mom will have to consider when deciding how many your dad can eat in one day... (any nurses around to set me straight???)

I think you are nearly correct, Carol. Not just the butter but the flour too. Your body breaks that down to sugar energy to use it. Cindy, Granny hugs are wonderful. I had to make a run to town to drive my older son somewhere. So I buzzed through Walgreen's. I had a use or lose coupon. I got some gifts wrapped this morning and laundry is done. I got trash out and to the dumpster. I will be wrapping more in a bit. But food first.

My day went very well, too. Except I never napped. I was busy and forgot to. I can sure feel it tonight. Even if I don't actually sleep, the stretch and rest do me good most days. I will go to bed in a bit and make up for lost rest time.
