OK.....today I have had to promise to Rachel (she is a basketcase because of my weather forecast)and swear on many things dear to me that I would not go outside because of the weather.

We had 10 tornadoes in Kentucky day before yesterday and today is supposed to make that look like nothing.
I personally don't believe it. We had a bad storm earlier.....wind, hail, everything is flooded.....blah, blah, blah.....
...but they say the "Big Storm" is coming in a few hours. They even let school out early today because of it.

Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel is in my area right now....and "The Storm Chasers" from the Discovery Channel are here. I want to prove them WRONG and also prove this poem from my junior high yearbook is wrong... The sun is shining right now!!!!!

The day was bright, the sky was blue,
Down the alley a sh!twagon flew.
A screen door slammed, a scream was heard,
...a man was killed by a flying turd.

This afternoon the sun came out, it was warm here--(well warm for March) there was no wind-----but now ???? it is getting overcast & the wind is picking up....

Don't tell me that, Junie!!!!!! Our bad weather is coming from your direction, I think.......

In the last 15 minutes it has gotten very windy here and the sun is almost gone now.....

Well if the weather people can be believed, and my bad weather is coming your way you have quit a while to wait yet. You see,

We are under either a tornado warning (or is it a watch ?) until 6pm. so if that is so, the system still has to get to you, so not to get too worried, well not yet any way....

Yep...I see it's coming my way. But am hoping it dies down before it gets here.

Rachel just called and said Jeremy is in the middle of it on his way home from work and he stopped to pull over at a strip mall and all the windows were blowing out of the stores.

...I guess the sh!twagon has flown.....

Junie...please keep me posted as long as you can on how you are.

Ok will do..the weather lady just saidf this was the most severe weather we have had since (she may have said) in 74 years.

Thay are talking about how bad it is, (or perhaps will get?) in Nashville, Cindy.

Glad to hear about Rachel & Brennan--I hope that Jeremy gets safely home soon.

Heard from Glenda,, She and family is ok,, Tornado hit 15/20 miles from her home,, Just waiting to hear from Cindy now,,,

It's been a heller here.
Laurel County was the hardest hit in southeast Kentucky...they are still digging people out of collapsed houses and mobile homes.
My brother's house was spared, but his neighbor across the road and several more homes on Hawk Creek (where he lives) were destroyed. My electric came back on about 2 hours ago, but no internet til now. Electric is off in a major part of the county still.

Just got this from Rachel...Christopher is Jeremy's son and is on the rescue squad here.

Yes, it has passed...just windy here now and some off and on rain.
I feel so blessed.....I am just sitting here crying.....
It happened so fast...I was sitting in the floor with Lola and was thinking we weren't going to get hit...then BAMMMM the lights went out and all hell broke loose.

I am very glad you are safe. I was scared for you.

wow Cindy---that WAS quite a lot to have happen to you AND the surrounding area---I feel so badly for those people that were hit by these storms.

Thanks for worrying about me, you guys....as bad as I hate for people to worry about me, though...
When I finally got phone service and connected to Rachel I told her to tell someone here I was OK, since I didn't have internet.

she did so on FB---& she did a great job---& I think we have all become like a second family to each other---so we worry about each other---& in my book that is a "good thing"

I agree I am sorry you had to go through this.

So glad you're okay. I'm not friends with Rachel on fb so I'm glad to see you posting. Sounds like it was really bad in places. My heart goes out to all those affected.

My brother went down to check on my mom's property (where her house burned last year). It's so bad he had to walk over a mile to get there because of trees down across the road. The tornado path is straight through it...huge oak trees down everywhere in a wide path (she owns 70 acres)...and the roof of her burned house is in some trees, and the rest of it (her house) scattered everywhere. Her neighbor's house (at the top of mom's driveway) was destroyed. Gotta think that her house burning probably saved mom and dad's lives...and my niece she is raising.

Mom's aunt that lives close (in a trailer) we can't get any news about. We know her son is in the hospital in critical condition, he lived next door...and her other son in another trailer was gone at the time and his trailer is destroyed. National Guard won't even let Sam walk down there to find out about my great aunt. She is disabled in a wheelchair so couldn't have gotten out, they won't tell him anything.

PS....Also found out awhile ago that my cousin's mother and father-in-law were 2 of the people killed last night.

This is as far as Sam could drive to get to mom's property.

Oh my Cindy--such Horrible news

This is all so very sad, and I am so so sorry......I wish the outcome had been better for your family---but yes I am glad now that your mom & dad were not in their house last night.

The white places that look like snow are actually demolished homes....

The man in this mobile home was not severely injured...you can see in the foreground where the trailer originally sat. He had gone back into the home to get his dog out when the tornado hit it.

The woman in this home was found alive.....

It seems so unreal...I couldn't even begin to comprehend what you are going through. Sending prayers.

I know....it really does. It's what you see on the news after a disaster that happens to "someone else" in another town...not at home in YOUR (my) town.
