Hot chocolate here this morning....I am trying to use up the Keurig pods that DD gave me for Christmas. It is a hit or miss with the variety pack it seems.

I didn't do much of anything yesterday...it is too cold to venture out. I did bake a brown sugar pie though Tina, come get a slice grin

Perhaps my terminology is not the best, Tina. Rod cracked them all and put them in a box for me..I sit at the table and remove the nut meats from the cracked shells. Sorry to confuse the situation.

I just bought some girl scout cookirs. Thank yous ,( shortbread with a layer of chocolate) and Lemonades...(a lemon cookie.). I am told the first one wil! Not be made next year...I hope that is not so.

Hi all. I just got out of the shower...I had to do the barn work early this morning. DH got called out at 4 am again...it snows enough every few days just to make the roads a bit messy but this is the first year in a few that I can still see the road from my yard. We probably only got half the snow we usually get by now.

I've got a full day of cleaning and mopping ahead. Have a good one.

Good morning !
Still drinking coffee here.

I just put away 11.5 cups of nuts....still more left to do.
DH offered to help me so I would finish tiday, but I turned him down. He hates this part. I kinda like to do it.

Glad there is not as much snow as usual, Sunny. But remember the winter is not over.

That wasn't a lecture. I was leaning over to knock on my wood desk.Like my fire season. It runs seasonally as a rule. But the winds and fires can spring up any time. Or tornadoes and hurricanes can't be expected to follow a calendar. Mother Nature is like that.

Yup, I understand....Winter is far from over here. Although, so far this month it has been colder than snowier.....it can change with one snow storm. Have you seen the mess in Newfoundland? Over three ft of snow in one storm, they even had to call in the army.

DH has today off, not for a good reason either....our old truck is acting up and needs to visit the 'shop'. nervous

3 ft. If snow in 1 storm ? OMG. That is horrible. I guess I should be thankful for what I don't have. Sorry for the truck problems.. It seems they know just when to act up. I hope it is an easy , inexpensive fix. Glad he can go deal with it.

Done with our nuts. I guess..bring on the baking.

Afternoon, soon to be evening.... here anyway....

I have been working on getting tax stuff gathered... always fun ….not! Don't know why I am the only one that can do that... guess I better outlive hubby, he has never paid a bill , balanced the checkbooks or done a budget... I try to explain it and his eyes just glaze over....LOL!

I did manage to wash bedding and remake beds... got to get as much done as I can today and tomorrow... Fri will be a traveling to Tucson and another nearby town to attend to funerals... both for hubby's family , 2 different uncles of hubby's... don't know why they both had to be Friday but at least they are close to each other so we can go to both... seems like we moved down here to be able to attend funerals...

Well still have to fold sheets for one bed... then that will be done.. made sure clothes we need for trip are ready, not planning to stay overnight but taking a change of clothes just in case.. sil is going with us and may meet bil too, so taking our Tahoe so we can be comfortable, more gas but with 4 of us a lot more comfortable traveling...

Well off to fold sheets and think about dinner, leftovers tonight, someday we will learn to cook for two, we always make way to much , but keeps us in leftovers so not all bad....LOL!

Nana

I call them plannedovers. And I actually plan for them.
It turns out that making a small stew or soup or meatloaf (and whatever) neither tastes as good as a big dish nor is as economical. Buying small amounts is expensive. Using a quarter of an onion means you have to package and store the rest appropriately. Etc.
And then, almost everything is better when the flavors have time to settle in to each other. So a second or third day is good.

We had our first day of cold weather today. I hope it stays cold for a while so I can plant some green peas and so the plants that need a cold snap to bloom will be able to bloom in the spring. It may be too late for that but I don't know.

I made some chicken soup tonight that ended up being more like a stew because I put too much rice in. Tasted great though.

I hope you get the cold weather that you need, Sheri. And if your soup/stew tasted good, then that is so that matters, right ??

I am headed to bed everyone. Sleep well all. Nite-nite.

Sorry about the funerals Nana.

Sheri, I am sending cold weather your way. lol

DH doesn't like leftovers but I do, so I usually eat them and make him something I'd rather not eat such as liver or steak.

Off to get GG ready for school then to do the barn work....then I plan to soak in a bubble bath for an hour. thumbup

Rod is not a fan of leftovers but back when we were first marrued, he went on strike one time, and another time he was laid off, so he learned to eat them real fast. My mom was a master at making a different meal out of leftovers though, I must say as my dad would not eat them either. I still miss her "potato sou p". It was really a bean soup with extra onions, potat and a small bit of ketchup in it.

Time to read story books. TTYL.

Yes, Sunny..Enjoy ! Good news for me is, it did not get as cold as they predicted. There is a light must outside, but no snow or ice or anything....... so far, anyway. I hope it stays that way.

Good morning Tina...and Sunny. You guys keep warm as well.
