Bestofour, I guess some people think they are invincible. It is going to be another tragic disaster.

It is 32*F this morning, the leaves are starting to fall. boohoo

Sounds like it. That or they are thinking it is easier to play the odds and hope their area is spared when the storm goes thru. Sounds crazy to me.

Leaves have been falling at my house for over a month. It’s a full time job keeping them off my driveway.

Thankfully Milton wasn’t as bad as predicted.

The trees at my house and surrounding areas are just barely beginning to turn. I love fall but I am not a fan of winter.

Sunny, wonder if you’ll get much snow this year. I thought about you when I heard a radio program saying 4 schools in London have been closed because the UK population has been declining since 2010 and the cost of living in London has gotten so expensive people with children can’t afford to live there. Same for places in Finland. Some group has formed and is trying to sue the city to force them to keep schools open. So stupid in my opinion. If there aren’t enough students to run a proper school I don’t think I’d want my child to attend there.

I can’t stop thinking about the people who work by the hour who have had the business they work for washed away by Helene. What in the world will they do?

Do either of you ever watch Jamie Oliver? I just love him.

I do watch Jamie Oliver now and then but have never cooked any of his meals. We had a mild Winter last year, we only had snow late but it left late as well.

Junie, my mother cooks the turkey this time...I'll do the veggies and bring them over.

I just got in from helping DH, it seems our submersible pump in our well is shot. He is gone for another one now....another bill we don't need.

Gingers going to Branson MS with her in-laws and Shelley usually eats lunch with her in-laws so I’ve volunteered to work Thanksgiving day so since it will just be me eating late I probably won’t cook at all to be honest.

I’m going home tomorrow. I’m sad but ready to go too. If that makes sense.

Yes, it does make sense. Like me, not wanting to leave my home in IL and all of my family, however I wanted to live closer to my DD so we could help them with their triplets..and their brother.

We may well be invited to my SIL's Thanksgiving (not on the day proper) that they have in a party hall the family is so large. But then Thanksgiving day I think I will cook a small turkey so I can make soup with the carcus. I love turkey carcus soup.

IF you come up with a way to convince yourself to go out, please share...I so wish I were living back home when it comes to driving places.

Junie how do you make your turkey carcass soup? Is there less traffic back home? I don't live close to anywhere and most of the time wish I did.

Ginger's house is kept at 67°. I always have fun but I'm glad to get back home so I can be warm.

What I do is I start with the turkey carcus..( you would not believe how much meat is hiding on the bones) then I proceed as if I were making chicken soup. Now I make my chicken soup with water not boughten chicken broth.
.....In a large soup pot......

1 turkey carcus
8 C. Water
1-1/2 tsp. salt..(or to taste)
1/8 tsp.(or less) Ground sage.....sometimes I omit
1 bay leaf
4 pkg herb ox sodium free chicken bouillon ...
(1 pkt. is = to 1 tsp bouillon, or 1 cube of bouillon)
if you don't use sodium free omit the salt at first.

Simmer covered..1-1/2 hrs or until meat falls off of bone.
Remove meat from bones, strain broth. Return meat and broth to pot. (Discard bones)
Add:
3 chopped carrots
1 medium onion, cut up
1-2 stalks celery, cut up

Simmer in until veggies are tender...serve

I also boil noodles and/or potatoes in another pot on the side. And add desired amount to each serving. This soup freezes well if you do not try to freeze noodles or potatoes in it.

I hear that about being cold. I miss my fireplace at home. Rod is warm blooded so I am always cold.

At home, the roads are mostly flat, and I can use 2 lane roads to get just about anywhere I really need to go. Plus I know where I am going so I can concentrate on my driving. Here you pretty much have to use the interstate to get to any nice place to shop and as it is one of 2 ways to get to said shopping, there are all kinds of on ramps. I am not the best at pulling into the left lane between 2 cars to allow merging traffic to enter. Hence the problem.

Mmmm now I want soup.

I ended up staying home yesterday, the roads were a bit slippery. I convinced myself to go today....driving an hour just to get to Walmart is just so wrong.

I hope so too (about the fun time).

The sun is out but it is cold. One of our 3 trees is beginning to turn colors.

It is getting close to the end of the month. The cold has to come eventually.

Good Morning

I spent the whole day outdoors yesterday, I cut back every perennial and cleaned up most of the mess. Just have to rake leaves today....my yard looks bare now.

I think it's Tuesday night but I might be confused. I went to see my mother yesterday. She seems a little bit worse but I guess this is the way dementia works.

It's like spring here. We had a few cool days but now it's in the 80° again and things are blooming.

Sheri: yep, Tuesday evening. I find many days are just the same, and as a result, it is hard to know which day is which.

Did you read back to see the turkey carcus I posted for you ? Also you could find a chicken soup recipe and exchange the chicken for a turkey carcus.

Yes, I did see that recipe. Thank you. Another spring day here but I planted pansys anyway. They may burn up.

Vinca is green here year round. Can you put it inside a garage or under the house and keep it watered?
