Thanks, Mary!

Behind the pond, around the walk are decorative volcanic rocks. We went to buy more this year, but the place stopped carrying them and we cannot find them anywhere else.

In front and around the pond is just very very hard, dry soil! We haven't had any rain for 11 days now, and everything is rock hard, or crunchy, like the grass. I'm not very motivated this year to try and figure out something to put around there - hopefully I'll be able to research it over winter and come up with something pretty.

volcanic rock - that the same as lava rocks? Doesn't look like it, but that was the only thing I could think of that was similar - unless I've just never seen it which is likely since you can't find it now Duh but your crunchy dirt looks pretty too! laugh

Actually...I've been called "Cindy Faye" a LOT more than my real name!

My brother has always called me "Cindy Faye"...
...and I have no idea why. nutz

You know...he's 44 years old now...
...and I think it's about time I asked him!

Heck, he might think that's my real name or something, for all I know! laugh

Lynne,

Love your pond. Is there a thread somewhere on the steps you took building it? Would love to see the transformation.

Thanks, Gardencrazy and Triss!

Triss - no instructions - the pond is an old bathtub that we took out of the kids' bathroom! laugh

The biggest thing we learned about getting it set up is: you have to fill it with water right away, or it will float up above ground in the first heavy rainstorm! nutz This happened to my husband last August when he was all finished settling it in the ground. Had a heavy rain the next day, he had to remove the tub and dig it out all over again - NOT FUN!

That is too funny. I am sure not for all of you. What a great way to recycle something old!
