Hello, everyone!

I just stumbled upon this message board and it looks like a lovely place to learn how to garden. I've never had a green thumb, but I'd like to change that and learn how to beautify my garden with plants/flowers and keep the li'l suckers alive for a change. I'm not that great with plants that need special care so hopefully I can find out which things are best for a novice like me to start out with!

A little about me: I'm from California, age 40, single, one "son" (a German Shepherd, Yogi), and I live with/take care of my 74-year-old stepfather. (I'm off work on family leave at the moment.) My mother passed away one month ago so I have been keeping myself busy.

I am a fan of The Osmonds and Clay Aiken. cool

I reckon that's it! Looking forward to getting to know you all! wink

Hi, G-Mom! Thanks so much for the welcome! smile

I was a Mormon at one time myself. Though I'm not anymore, I love Mormons and respect the religion. Very good and patriotic people, God bless 'em!! smile

How cool that you loved the Osmonds! OMG, when I was young, the sun rose and set on Donny Osmond as far as I was concerned. I saw him recently in person (it had been many years since I saw him last) and, wow, he still looks incredible!!

I should say that I know nothing about gardening and I hope you guys won't mind some seriously stupid questions now and then! My favorite flowers are daisies so I'm going to have to look up how to take care of them and see if now would be a good time to plant some. Are they year-round? Looking for something to plant along the side of the house that won't poop out after a few months!
