Yep, that is a pretty one. How big is it?

I see you are in the midwest, I am in Nebraska, zone 5 and am wondering if you have about the same growing conditions I do and what special things you may or may not have to do for your hibiscus as I have traded for several species that I am eager to plant for next year.

I didn't measure the bloom, it was pretty big, I'd guess 8 inches. I feed them pretty heavily (20-20-20) once I see growth in the spring, continuing till the blooms cease. Also lots and lots of water. I also remove most of the spent blooms, but I keep some on to collect seeds. What kinds do you have?
I also love the tropical ones. I have 6 and don't know what I will do with all of them this fall. Wish I had a greenhouse. -Bonnie

I'm in KS, Topeka vicinity.

I have none growing but lots of seeds. Several colors of rose of Sharon. Manihot, sweet hibiscus, pink hardy and lemon0eyed rose.

No idea what many of them are going to look like but we have tons of space here and I have fallen in love with this flower based strictly on all the pics of them I have seen here. So my plan is to have a garden of them next year. I am going to start a few indoors, plant a lot against the house and MULCH very well next winter for the ones I keep out and bring a bunch in the house to overwinter.

Will see how all that works out for me but I am hoping very well!

You get a bit more snow and rain than we do here, but pretty close to the same weather.

We here in Toronto are seeing more and more hibiscus that's grown in greenhouses now. They tell us they're not being imported as much as in yesteryears.

The one we bought is doing well - bloom after bloom.

I saw one around the corner here - the flower was about 7 to 8 inches wide - heh! heh!

Keep your eye out for spider mites while they are inside. Mist them occasionally, the mites don't like water.
