If something needs to be in light to germinate, should I still put the dome on top until they emerge?

Yes the dome helps keep them in a moist environment. Just make sure to use a mist bottle when you do water so you don't accidently cover the seeds with soil. And when you plant the seeds press them lightly into the soil so they don't move around as much. The first time I tried working with them I didn't do that and when they came up they were all clinging to the sides of the pots and one had actually fallen down and was growing in the bottom of the little green house I had it in. Rescuing it wasn't easy and it didn't survive. I don't have a delicate touch.
