I tried this last year and was quite surprised.you take cinnamen and applesauce and make a dough out of it and roll it out.I used gingerbread men&tied some checkered cloth on neck and used rasions for buttons.I made a door hanging with one on a wreath has like 8 gingerbread men and cinnamon sticks broke& tied on it and threaded a red checkerd ribbon& gave as a gift.i stuck some cinnamon broom in places on the sides too.you just need a small amount of applesauce then stir in the cinnamon till thick& doughy& use cinnamon to flour surface as the flour will show up.i laid out to dry in sun,but if you do with raisons the birds will eat them.you can spray with clear paint to help preserve them
????
How much cinnamin???
Can you make it a little
thick with some flour first???
Just curious..

I'd like to know more too, this is a cute idea and I have a few friends that collect gingerbread man stuff......I'd like to give this a try!
I did add a lil to the nd batch
when i mixed it up i went to $store and got 2 for $1 cinnamon& $1 jar applesauce which you don't need much applesauce. my 1st rool out i used flour and it left marks on the mixture.i tried water painting them out but not enough.2nd roll out used cinnamon.it still seemed a bit sticky so maybe the flour mixed in would help but not very much& will have to mix in with the cinnamon 1st.I dug out in christmas stuff and they were stored in ziplock bags in a box and they still smell, the bottom one broke his leg.I may add some clove powder to some and make a few more
I posted a recipe for these in the Holiday Crafts for Kid's section a short while back.
what shapes did you do?and how thick.am wondering how thick i can go
We've done them around 1/8- 1/16th inch thick. They take a long time to dry, so we thought the thinner ones were best.
We used Christmas cookie cutters: bells, trees, angels, santas, stars. That fine gold thread worked well to hang them, too.
I did gingerbread men& had material for deco and used some of it to hang them the round ones used some twine i had from a package in mail.I think will do agin this year but do some for a wreath made of straw& as gift tags for christmas
My 5-year-old and I made some this week. We decorated them with glitter glue designs, threaded them with gold and silver elastic thread and made napkin rings for the Thanksgiving table that our guests can take home and use for Yule ornaments!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
I've seen something as hot coasters ????
(When you put your hot plate, bowl or cup
down on them they heat up the cinnamin...)
Is that the same concept??????
Just make a square out of it????
