whoa, nothing in here for a whole day?!?!? i guess we are all exhausted from the thrill of the exchange??? i spent all of this evening making more driftwood pieces...1 halloween, 1 small cats, and started on something with a light in it.......that is as far as i got....the light in it! have'nt got pics of the other 2, maybe tomorrow!
i cant make up my mind yet, i wanna do this n i wanna do that ! i started a few things , once i get a feel for somthing though ill work on it till im done n wont touch the others i started till im done, just gotta get the feel! wendy cant wait to see what your doing! i love your crafts!
I am going to start finishing Maddie's tiny pink bunny. And I have got to start on Halloween things too. But I just now am getting stirred up for Christmas so I do not quite know what to do with myself! But this year, I am NOT making anything for the Christmas Fair at church!! I will NOT! well, maybe I will make those sawdust and wax firestarters because I have been saving scented and unscented candle stubs all year, but that is it! Nothing else.
Can't wait to see more of Wendy's work.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
yes, i took the "sea jewels" and display board to the store yesterday, but have not been back. the rest of the pieces are going to go in the fesitval at the end of sept. i hope it is going to be a hit, this is the first one, so there is a chance it could bomb!
Lynne had mentioned she was knitting something for someone on here out of blue pebble yarn. IT was for me she knitted me a scarf for this winter, I just love it!! It will look great with jeans I soooo want to find a denim car coat now!!!!
Here it is!,,,,,,,,,,, The picture doesn't do it justice at all It is sooooo beautiful,, and sooooooo soft!!
I love it , love it , love it!! Thanks again Lynne!

I'm so glad you like it! I was actually going to post a couple of pictures I took of it in my "finally started knitting again" thread, but since you posted it here, I hope you don't mind if I add them here?
Close-up of knitted scarf........................................finished scarf .
I hope you get as much use out of it as I enjoyed making it for you!
yes, they have something called "GHOST WALK" every year, but this year, they changed the to "SOMEWHERE IN TIME" because it has to do more with history than ghosts, then they added the craft fair. only handmade stuff and the vendors can dress in period pieces----i want a prairie style dress, but if i don't hurry and get with the girl that makes them, i will be in a wendy dress and boots!
I wish my camera worked. I finished my afghan this afternoon. Now I'm well into my next one. I've never made afghans before. The closest was a king sized thread work throw for a bed. But I've mostly ever made clothing for my kids and ex before. So this afghan stuff is fun and fast.

Just thought I'd share my latest project which is going to be a Christmas Present. It's just the right size to give a book in. There are other patterns for snowman, dog, and I think cat. Plastic canvas craft.
I am strong when I am on your shoulders, you raised me up to be more than I can be.
Sheri and Lynne....I like the music notes! What a good idea!
I like it ladyslipper. I used to do plastic canvas crafts. My grandma always did them and she would let us do them with her. Haven't done that in a long time! Thanks for sharing!!
starting a new project our of plastic canvas. A turkey that is called a shelf sitter. Have it cut out and got to go through my yarn and select colors. Will post picture when I get enough done.

i am not caught up in here yet, but i finally got some pics that shirley wanted to see of the light plate covers that i am making for a craft show in november....
i used greeting cards in the real fancy ones, but quickly found out that scrapbook paper works best!
and 1 more pic.....i thought you would like to see where i spend all of my time! it is what i call the craft room or faery space.....i am constantly adding something to it, so it is KINDA a project!
no, just that one could be called a fairy....the hobby lobby here does NOT have a goo selection of scrapbook paper, i will have to go to joanns soon, but it is an hour away! AND THANKS!
diane....tell jayhawk to look at this pics......it was her cat paper and modpauge that got me started! she had my name in the last craft swap!
ohhhhhhhhhh Wendy - I really like those switchplates! What a great idea!
And I also really like the blue color on your walls - very soothing! Would you happen to know the name of it? I've been looking for a color for the little room I want to make into a craft room that's off the kitchen here, but haven't found quite the right shade yet...

i know i still have the paint chip with the brand and color on it, when i get it i will pm you
Well, I'm just now getting to the point where I can work on things while Maddie is taking her naps. I haven't done much at all in the line of crafts, but I decided the other day that I'm going to work on the strolling quilt blocks that HGTV did a few years back. There is a block for each month and I'm going to start with November's block and go from there. I might find some time to start working on it tomorrow since the weekends are Stephen's time to give me a break and watch Maddie for most of the day. :) Sooooo......just thought I'd pop in and let ya know. :)
NO WAY! Those are really nice Wendy! My friend Dixie has been making those for years! She uses scrapbooking paper too. Verry nice. Great idea to recycle the christmas cards. Too bad they're difficult to work with. I bet some wrapping papers would make nice ones too.
I saw your switch plate covers Wendy!! They look great!!
They gave me some ideas for our kitchen. That is , if I can talk my husband out of the stainless steel covers.

here is the shawl i am making out of the yarn that jessica sent me in the latests gift swap. she sent the cream and green and it was the same as the red i had, so here you go!
thanks tina. i saw it in the box and the red just jumped into the thought, so here it is you know, when you see something that hits you that hard? and it is easy to work because i'm doing it on a big needle, and it is all dc.
ok, so, it's not the weekend, but here are the pictures. the first is draped over a chair and the second is folded in half on ellie's piano bench. i like that one because you can see the ruffled edging i am putting on it.
Jonni got a Knifty Knitter set for Christmas. She actualy opened it and checked it out last night. So far she has made a single fingerless glove with a little help starting and finishing from me. Now she has just finished a matching skater cap. I wish my camera worked.

ok, here is the finished shawl on ellie. i ended up giving it to her. the color isn't good because it is a camera phone picture, but since the color is good in the other pictures, you can see the finished product and know what it should look like.
thank you both it was really easy, and now that i have the "idea" together, i am going to do 3 baby blankets in the same kind of pattern, but different colors, and more square. my little sister is due in may, and i'm going to do one for her. and ellie likes her shawl so much, she's asked that i make baby blankets until i can't just so that all the (as yet un-conceived) grandchildren have one. i guess she will store them. i've started a shawl/scarf for me that i'm liking better, i'll post sometime this week.
Jiffy - you did a terrific job on that shawl! I think it's a great idea for you to keep making baby blankets like it, so long as your hands hold up - what a wonderful thing for the yet unknown grandchildren to have and cherish!
ok, here's the current project, as promised. it's a shawl/scarf. for me. i'm using a single of each color in lion brand home spun, to give it a tweed look. red and cream. size m needle (9mm) in double crochet.
first pic just from a distance/angle, it's laid out on my bed, and i just took the picture standing up
this one is directly over so you can see the stitch pattern
this one has the thread skien on it for size reference
it is going to be between 5 and 6 feet long and it's about 16 inches wide. the first one i made is just under 12 inches wide and just over 5.5 feet long. i wanted one slightly larger. i find myself using the first one more as a shawl in the office and a scarf every where else. i wanted one that i could do the same thing with only more comfortably.
I love the shawl that you made Jiffy and the scarf/shawl that you are making for yourself is going to be very pretty too! Can't wait to see it when it is finished!!
you are caroljean. i made them and got a fabulous giggle yesterday. i was talking to my sister in law about the wedding and she said "i think kate's flowers were just gorgeous, ellie should use the same florist" i replied, she is, me! part of putting the pics out is to see how they are going to photograph. the girls finally figured out that how the flowers photograph means a lot more years later
thank you carol jean. i'd love to take the credit, but i learned at my mother's knee, she was a professional floral designer and had her own shop off and on her whole adult life. i just do what she taught me about how to make the flowers work together.
alright, last picture for the night. this is the "baby" blanket i am making for my little sister. she is due in early may, but didn't want a baby-ish blanket, but rather one that was more suited for an older child. she remembered my girls carting their baby blankets around all the time as teen-agers!
the colors don't show well in the photograph, but it is cream, navy blue and sage.
That is an awesome baby blanket. I know exactly what your sister means by not too babyish. I bought Teddy blankets in multiples in colors I wouldn't mind seeing and trying to keep clean. But he never ended up a blanket baby. None of my kids did.

Jiffy--that too is a wonderful blanket--and your sister is right. I know because: valarie is going to be 28 this april--and she still has her baby blanket--and she has to have it with her in bed. and yes, it is pink with silk binding--not to mention a bit of lace or 2 for mending purposes. A "Blankie" like the one you are making your sister would be ever so much nicer now---your sister is very wise--and observant.

thank you. i ran it past my kids to see if they approved, they did. now, i just have to find more yarn. i got this at the walmart in statesboro, and the closest walmart didn't have it
Here are some hats that I have knitted so far. There are 2 more that I have made but they are being worn right now.
I see that I cute one off a bit and the colors didn't show up the best. The bottom right hat is a heather brown and it is the hat that I made in the class that I took. That was my first ever knitting project.
Well POO - I posted here the other day about Jiffy's pictures, and it's not here!!!!
I said... you are doing a terrific job, Jiffy, and I really like the colors you've chosen! I'm so glad that you are able to use your hands these days to make such wonderful keepsakes!
Jessica - those hats are great!!! Especially for first items made! I see that you've used different sorts of yarns, which is also a great learning experience - did you have a favorite yarn of the ones you've used so far?
And wow - you're doing cables ALREADY?!?!?!? Fantastic!
Thanks Lynne! Yeah they taught us to cable our last week of class. I am taking a mittens class in March. I don't mind any of the yarns. I like the bulky because it works up so much faster but they all are good. I got some alpaca yarn the other day and I am deciding what to make out of it. It is VERY soft!!! The hats I have done so far are wool except the baby hat. That is cotton. I used a lot of self striping yarns so far and I like them too. They are fun! I have a couple other projects going right now but I haven't seemed to get much knitting done since I got the new internet and the new computer. I will knit some today though.
Above is a flower pot I made myself at ceramics. The inside has been left bisque (fired but not painted.) The outside and the base has been glazed with a speckled paint. The pot also has a drain hole.
Above here is an oval flower pot that I made for my Daughter, Valarie, to use as a letter holder. While the outside has been done in stains, the inside has been painted with a turquoise colored glaze. The design on the outside of the pot mimics the design Valarie painted around the border of her bedroom ceiling when we lived at our old home.
