That sounds fantastic. I'm definitely going to try this. Although I may whimp out and use a graham cracker crust.

Here ya go Barb:

Crust For No Bake Desserts
1 stick Butter, Room temperature
1/2 C. Chopped pecans
1 C. Flour
1/8 tsp. Baking Powder

it will be best to use butter/margarine that is at least 70% fat.

Mix the above ingredients well. press in bottom/sides of 9 or 10-inch pie pan OR bottom of a 9 x 13 dish.
Bake in a preheated 300* F oven for 15 minutes.

Cool and use in any baked shell recipe.

But a lady from the school my girls went to submitted it when we put together a cook book one year. She submittted it to be used like one would any crust that you bake & add filling to. It is good and easy. Good Luck !!

Thankyou for the no bake crust. My regular crusts come out like concrete and I'm just not up to trying to improve it this year.

Being sick for so long really took it out of me and with the move I don't have much energy to spend.

I love the recipes. It's great to have new things to try.

What I do when baking crusts by hand..
Do not ever over stir your stuff.
Just mix the shortening and flour till it is jelled together.. I use water to make it more moist ......
Do not Over mix any of your recipes for pie cake cookies etc.

I'm thinking of doing the Buried Cherry Cookies so I'll keep your advice in mind. I do have a tendency to over stir.

I just baked some Ole Fashioned Tea cookies which we love..Someone online gave me the recipe.......
Now I have the Squash Bread raising and I am waiting to put it into the oven.
I could not find squash at the market , so I used sweet potatoes.....I bought frest tators and boiled it like tators and mashed them.

Now the waiting begins........

Here is the recipe off my head ....I use for apple , peach or pie that needs a crust.

2 cups flour
1tsp salt
1 cup shortening (Any)

Just jell all the shortening together with the tongs of your fork......When is looks like say peas .............Add cold water little at a time and mix it all to a smooth texture.
Do not mix long.........Only to make a nice dough.
Roll out whatever you like..

Works for me..
Oh I put my dough on a piece of wax paper to roll it out and transport it to the pan......easier.

ok, i have a "hostess" request. we love when you post recipes, but can you also put them in the recipe section? that way, when i am looking for barb's pie crust, i can go to the recipe section, find it, and go. i don't have to remember which page of which topic it was in ('cause my rememberer took a vacation without me)

thank you! kissie

and i do want all the recipes, not just bali's pie crust.

yes, yes, and in the hobbies and crafts section! you can even copy/paste other people's recipes as long as you give them credit (i.e. in the subject line, you put "dodge's pie crust")

that's part of what i do sometimes.
