I would say St. Nicholas of Myra but he was a bishop and this guy's missing a crozier. He looks like he's from the north by the look of his furry cape

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
Bali ~ to me he looks like Father Frost, the Russian version of Santa Claus.
After the Russian Revolution, they moved Christmas to January 7th and changed Father Christmas to Father Frost to put more emphasis on the non-religious holiday of New Year. I think the style of his cap is particularly Russian and in all the illustrations I've ever seen of Father Frost, he is more slender than how we depict our Santa.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

I am checking out the photos.......All I see so far, have on robes..Not a belted waist like the american types. I will keep looking ........I think he had a staff or something in the hand, but is missing.
Dodge I've done some looking,,, And I have found that MOST Father Christmas of the woods had Blue under robes and Had a staff or shephard Hooks in their hand and on their hats with berries particularly blue berrys and red berries on the hats as well,,, and they are styled in the fashion simular of the typical russian hat,, yet not quite,, wasn't there a tag on it,, or on your reciept ... what was it described as,,???

Thanks ....... It is definately blue........ Fur type hat. Shepard hook missing.......
And the decorations on the hat are blue and white sort of beads which would resemble blueberries, backgroud is like a blue lace... It is slim and tall......Pretty face.
No tags or anything on it ......th Maxx .........probably rejects . No writing on the slip.......
But I really like it .. I have 2 more on the fireplace in Burgundy. One is definately St Nicholas with the shepards hook. Will take a photo 2 maro and show you.. I like santas for decos....... Thanks for helping......
Dodge - I just love that doll! The eyes are beautiful, and the clothes look very well made for a doll. I'd say you found a very nice item, no matter which one he is!
It's a traditional Santa from BEFORE the beginning of the 20th Century. The red and white Santa we have today was first fetured on EARLY ads for Coca Cola, and the advertisers put him in Coke's trademark colors for subliminal effect, and the outfit's colors stuck, at least here in America. Before Coke, he looked like your doll, Dodge and I believe that in the U.K. Father Christmas is often pictured in that garb, still.
Kingdoms RAGE and go to war...but the PEasants plant potatoes..
EARTH FIRST! (we'll strip-mine the OTHER planets later.)
Thanks ........I agree....I like it .......The face part is so sweet, and the hat I always loved that type......
Your correct Thorn......USA made the red symbol of santa......For some reason I prefer the deep colors for santa......Have to show you the other fellow I had for a while.. Also have one on a bike......Last years find.
Santa is a nice fellow for christmas.....Thanks for all the nice words. Everyone.

PS Tamara .that does sound close........I know the hat is russian type. It is very seasonal here for christmas ........My toy.. Thanks for hunting it up. All of you.........Happy new year.
Hmmm....I was also going to say Father Christmas. Is there someone who comes during New Year's?????
Yes new years guy with a sicle.
Hey Dodge, MIL looked up the new year's guy with a sickle and found out about Father Time...........she read the history of him and how he came to be and it is VERY strange to me! Lots of stuff about someone being castrated and eating a stone instead of a baby.... sounded like a greek mythology soap opera to me!!!
