Well, it has warmed up to -27*C (-17*F) this morning. We are in the middle of a freezing snap.....which usually means no snow for a few days. I had to shovel out my bedroom window yesterday, we couldn't see out of half of it.

I have heard about shoveling out windows but I'm kind of glad that I haven't had to do it. Right now it would be beyond me anyway.
We have a lot of rain headed our way. We need it but the areas that were recently burned are in danger of mudslides and flooding without the growth to hold it on the hillsides. We personally are in pretty good shape as far as our hillsides I think. I am so looking forward to the rains. We are expecting in this one rainy period of 3-4 days about twice as much rain as we got all year last year. It is much needed.

it is between 68* & 70* F here today---alternating between being slightly sunny & a bit cloudy. sounds nice but it will just make the cold all that much harder to deal with when it comes back why

although the DH did use this day to take down our outside Christmas display stuff-- thumbup

Also, today, when he has gone out he takes it slow so he is not getting sweaty and then going in & out--

It's been so long....I can't even remember what 70 feels like.
(Well, outside.....it's above 70 inside!)

Lucky you--we keep it at 68 or 69 in the house--(we don;t want to pay any higher of a gas bill than waht we get charged for THAT temperature

and not to feel bad too long, Cindy--the temperature in Illinois is famous for rapidly changing--from one extreme to another

Yes this is wonderful for January. I love it I am going to go out and walk around the gardens. It will probably shock the plants but my old bones are loving the heat.

Rain is not a good thing though, it has no where to go. The ground is absolutely frozen. It will just sit there until it freezes. Guess we'll be skating in the driveway lol

30*F here right now. It was 43 on Sunday and that was very nice for us this time of year! We went out and made a snowman and actually got too warm for our gear so had to take some off!! It was great! lol Down into the 20s by the weekend. I won't complain about that either. It is better than the -10 that we were having!

We hit 69 today, and 70 yesterday----broke records here too Barb! I'm not complaining at all, the rest of the week is all downhill until we are back to the 30's.

BTW, LOTS of my bulbs are poking up ALREADY! Sure hope they make it okay.

Up here everyone says, the tornadoes attack Trailer courts.......So many times it happened.

One time one hit our area......about fourth of mile below me......It demolished my neighbors barn roof...........

Everyone pitched in and put the roof back on.

It's pretty mild out this morning but the sky is blood red already. Which means we will be having a doozy of a storm. Red skys are never a good thing.

It's really nice out today....36*F or 2*C which ever you like. No wind so far, a few clouds but I'm sure they'll disappear soon and our comes the sun. Some days we'll get 40*F. But no higher.....still looking for snow.

Last night it snowed, then ice pellets, then freezing rain, then rain and now a big mess is everywhere. It is supposed to rise above freezing point again today.

We finally got some snow, and it's cold again outside with our wind it may get colder yet. But I love it, winter can't seem to stay long enough for me this year.

Snowy here and the thermometer will be dropping a lot the next few days.

Just a few inches though, enough to make things pretty.

really warm for january--like 34 but it is still out. The bad news--it is snowing, all be it lightly and it makes the roads slick at this temperature.

-6 here this morning. We got a mess coming in tomorrow. Probably 6 more inches or more of snow. Was going to put out my trays for winter seed sowing, but will have to wait out the storm.

Braggers, it's -39*C out there, that is -38*F for all of you. Now that's cold lol

Most of the neighbours cars wouldn't start this morning...it's common sense that you have to keep the heater block plugged in this time of year.

I don't even know what a heater block plug is.

The vehicles in the area have a special heater pack that attaches to the engine. You keep your vehicle plugged in with an electrical cord to keep it warm enough to start....doesn't always work though. DH went to work today and they had the snow plows all plugged in but none would start either. We have to use a special oil and windshield washer fluid in this area as well.

Oh, it has warmed up to -37 by the way lol I swear, if you spit outside it would freeze before it hit the ground.

I think if I lived up there Tamara I'd never venture out of my bed! haha

Do most people have wood stoves up there?

It's sunny here and has warmed up to 22 degrees with a wind chill feel of 15 degrees.

last night was supposed to bring a sleet/snow storm of sorts--we got a small bit of sleet but only a sprinkling of snow---the powers that be were ready & treated roads well--so I think we are ok.

temps in the 20'a right now--but will go down to the teens and later today only up to 30-31 no mention of the wind chill

There are such nice temperatures mentioned in this thread, I wouldn't mind spending a day in the snow...
