I didn't know whether to put this in mystery plants or houseplants. I know these are house plants, but I have no idea what the names of them are. I get all my house plants at the 99 cent store and they have no names or care tags/markers with them so pretty much I just pick out the plants that I think look nice and take them home. If I knew what they were I would know if they need any special attention so if anyone could help me out thanks!

The 6th one looks like maybe it is a peace lily....i agree that the 1st one is a diffenbachia and the 4th is a croton. The 3rd one might be a split leaf philodendron? The 2nd one looks to me like a heart shaped philodendron but I have never seen one standing upright like that so I might be wrong.

Ok well I was looking up your suggestions and yes I believe the 1st one is Diffenbachia, the 2nd I'm guessing is Heart Shaped Philodendron although I'm not sure why mine would grow upright... if it sprouts a flower I guess I may have a Anthurium. The 3rd I guess must be some kind of Split Leaf Philodendron. The 4th is definately Croton. Guess 5th is still a bit of a mystery. And the 6th just may be a peace lily.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I'm going to get the big head if I'm right about this...

Could number 5 be a bromeliad?

amany, it could well be. it looks a little "floppy" for a bromeliad, but could be.

Well, I do love a good mystery. So, I'll be glad when it's all sorted out. :-)

Triss...no there are no other leaves growing on any of the stems..just one leaf on a long stem that comes from the base. The leaf does look like a Philodendron but the fact that it isn't viney or trailing suggests that it may not be and may be a Anthurium instead.

Hear is a picture I found of a young Philo that looks not like my plant.

And here is a picture of an Anthurium I found. Looks like what I have yet I have no flowers on mine. Perhaps it's too young to have one yet...I don't know. This is a description of the plant but I have no idea what the words mean *L* :Description - Has decorative heart-shaped leaves and an oval waxy bract or spathe with a spadix or 'tail' that rises out of it.

Now for #5 and #6 I hope these are brighter pictures.

Ok so for #5 I'm thinking it is a Bromeliad..thanks Amany

Here is a pic that I thought looked similar.

And here is a pic of a Peace lily. I think my #6 plant just may be.

Guess I may not know for sure until all these plants sprout a flower. *L*

I think #6 is a peace lily as well. ..just a young one. Keep it out of direct sun....it will get sunburn. They like evenly moist soil and in the winter when your house is dry, make sure you spray the leaves a bit so that they don't dry out and turn brown and crispy.

#2 looks like a heart leaf philodendron. anthuriums have more pronounced veins.

#3 is philodendron selloum.

#4 is a codiaeum variegatum.

I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!
