Here is my BEST bird buddy for the last 5 years. He hangs out and eats in my yard every day. He also actively drives away ANY Starlings that come in my yard. I call him, Mr. Mocky. I have also taught him the opening notes of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. He recognizes and trusts me, and I THINK, actually LOVES to have his picture taken. Whenever he sees the camera he always tries to give me the best and clearest poses he can. I took this picture this afternoon using my daughter's Canon Powershot S3 IS camera, from about 10 feet away, Dodge!

I just put it on Auto and started shooting, Dodge. It was low light so the picture is somewhat grainy, but it is one of the best photos I've taken of Mr. Mocky.
In other news, my artist friend, Ursula Vernon, got a new cat yesterday as a companion for her cat Ben. She named the NEW cat Angus Og after the ancient Irish God of Love.

It was great by all means.....I loved the way it picked up the ends of the feathers...... Mine is usually on automatic also.
Mr Mocky...... I have a friend who has a nice A frame home and is a birder .....One fell out of a nest or something and she kept it on her porch and fed it by hand.. It survived and would come to her hand daily for food......Amazing.. If you have this one singing that is cool.......... So far no birds trust me..LOL
Angus Og sounds cool...What is the color Orange????//Irish gods? She is becoming a household word on here .Irish god of Love..
Thanks for the info........Some one showed me a photo of their calico cat yesterday......I never seen one before..
Yes, her new cat is a solid buffy orange but no stripes. He looks a lot like a miniature Cougar.
Only female cats are Calicos. Rarely, you will get a male Calico, about 1 in every 100,000 Calicos. There are 2-3 Calicos in our neighborhood. One is Precious. Another one is named Chloe. There is a third, EXTREMELY pretty one that I see a lot, but I don't know her name, yet. I used to own 5 Calicos. I am very partial to them and often try to get as many as I can.
My last Calico was about 20 years ago. Her name was Devilene. She had a half black, half orange face with the dividing line that ran down the middle of her face, between her eyes to the tip of her nose. She was very odd. She only liked me and not the other family members. Whenever I got home from work, she would RUN to me purring and meowing and jump on my leg, where she would then climb up my body and perch on my shoulder like a parrot drooling and purring in ecstacy. She would not leave that spot until I left the house and put her on the floor and closed the door. It was the ONLY way I could get rid of her. What a GREAT cat she was!

Dhuber, you are right on the edge of their northern range. If you live in Southern Indiana, you should have them all year. If not, then you will have them in Summer.
They like to perch and sing from high open spots. In spring, as they sing, they do an ODD leap straight up in the air with and barrel roll at the top as a courtship/territory display, while singing all the time.
