Thank you all so much, once again! kissie
I really enjoy sharing my projects here with you all, and also enjoy seeing all that everyone else creates! thumbup

And... guess what?

I am a member of a relatively young website for knitters. It has been gaining membership leaps and bounds daily, and is still by invitation only. It took me 5 weeks to get my invitation a few months ago, but a friend recently said she got hers in 3 days this month. Right now there are over 85,000 members. Not bad for a young website, huh?

Soooooooo... this afternoon I got an email from them asking if they could feature a photo I posted there of one of my pieces, for that pattern link page. It is a small crocheted turtle that I made last year for Amy. They had already asked to feature the one I made of the bird for Amy last year, a few months ago.

I am so honored by this request, as numerous people have made and posted pictures of both these items. clap blush

Here are the animals...

Cool, Lynne. I remember the turtle but I don't remember the bird. Congratulations on the recognition. You deserve it.

Not having a great day today, and among other things, I decided that the fancy yarn I was using to make a teddy bear for a 6 month old baby girl, might be a hazard to her. While it looks so cute knit up with the plain yarn, I'm afraid she'll be able to pick off the "puffs" and possibly put them in her mouth and choke on them, so I am cutting all the pretty colors flat with the other yarn - SIGH...

The right side is after cutting and the left side still needs to be cut.
Does it look really bad? It loses so much of the color...

I think it looks really good Lynne! I do like how it originally was but I also like it after it is cut. It obviously loses the effect but they will never know that it was like that and I think it still is very cute! Very fun!

I am knitting mittens now. I have 2 pairs that are ready to have thumbs put on. I am learning how to put the thumbs on Thursday. I will show some pics then. thumbup

Thanks Jessica!

I can't believe how quickly you are learning to do things - especially items that are more interesting than scarfs!!!

They said they don't like to start people out on scarves Lynne because people get discouraged because they take a while to make. So...they like to start with smaller projects like hats so that it seems like you actually accomplished something. If you learn how to make a hat you can definitely make a scarf so that is their theory!! thumbup

Shame you had to cut. I have to keep yarn away from Haley, she sneezes..Guess I have to cut the hair off her doll I made ....Were both in the same can.

That is very true, Jessica!
I just can't believe you are making mittens already - and have done cables - sounds like this was an excellent class! I'm very impressed.

The lady who taught our class did say that we were more of an advanced beginner class. She said that most of the classes she teaches definitely do not get to cabling but she thought we were ready. That was nice to hear! At the mitten class on Saturday I showed them the cable hat that I had made. All of us have gotten into the habit of bringing what we make so everyone can see. The teacher showed a customer that came in the hat that I made and told the customer that I was the class prodigy. haha I wouldn't take it that far but it is nice to hear that they think I am doing well.

Congrats on the showings Lynne.

Jessica, I can't believe how fast your picking up knitting. I haven't knit in awhile and now I'm forgetting it all.

I am loving it Tamara! I like it better than crocheting!! I guess that is because I feel like I can do more with it. I never took a class for crocheting though so maybe I could do the same if somebody showed me. I really like it though!

that's awesome.

and lynne, i've been wanting to post for a bit, to tell you i think the project will look just fine without the yarn puffs on it. all your work is top notch and many people wouldn't have remembered to care about the baby's safety.

A bear, a bib, and a ball! lol

Just finished these tonight for baby Nora.
Don will bring them to her mom, who works in his office, tomorrow...

Can you tell that the bib has a bear on it?

The knitting forum sent me another email saying "We’d like to feature your photo on the page for Kay’s mittens by Kay". clap I feel so honored! These are the green variegated mittens I knitted for Amy last year to match a store bought scarf - she's never worn them by the way! rolz rspb

Thanks Jessica! Truth is... she only wore the scarf about 2 times, and then got herself a more "metropolitan" looking scarf in NYC so it's not "her style" anymore! KIDS! Gotta love 'em!
