I've always wanted to grow crocuses - they are so cheerful, peeking their colorful heads up first thing in spring, BUT... the @#$% squirrels have never let me enjoy any so I quit planting them many years ago.
Today I was in Dollar Tree and they had a very small box of some pathetic flower bulbs in packages, BUT... the crocus bulbs were just fine and all were already sprouting! So I bought 2 packages - how could I not for just $2 for 16 bulbs, and I potted them up when I got home. Hopefully the sun will be strong enough through the window in here, and I'll be able to enjoy the bright and cheery colors in a few weeks!
So, you planted them inside? I've never done that. You'll have to post a picture.
I think I'm going to copy you because they are so tiny that the ones I have scattered about outside don't make a pretty show.
Sheri: Lynne said she had potted them up and was going to keep them inside p----I said that I thought it was a great idea and I was going to copy her idea---sorry for the mix-up

I love my crocuses, I have purple and yellow ones! They are always so cheery being the first ones up in my yard and I get all excited over seeing those little flowers.
Hope it works out for you Lynne, and like you said for that price it's not a bad gamble.
I don't have any crocus here at the new house, but I did at the "farm"--and I too looked forward to seeing their little heads poke up--even thru the snow a lot of time-- --MIne were just purple

Carol, you should plant some outside next fall! You should see me when they start coming up, I go running all around the yard checking their progress.....I guess that's a gardener for you!
Loz, I would love to plant some--I will have to think where I could do that--perhpas I could dig up some of my violets in the front of the house (faces east)
the back gets avout 100% full sun all day---not a pretty thing---

I've got some narcissus bulbs someone here sent me that I think I'll stick in some pots this afternoon. I'll take pictures when they spring up. With this warm weather it may be too late this year.
I'm going to steal this post for a while...when I get crocus bulbs, do I need to give them a cold period to bloom? I got some saffron crocus and planted them, leaves came up fine and all but no blooms?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
Well Lynne I gotta say that they are very early this year....but I did a walk around the yard and they are truly all coming up.....I have lots of them in purple, white, and yellow.
Yours are looking really good in the pot....that's about what mine are like outside right now.
