I've always wanted to grow crocuses - they are so cheerful, peeking their colorful heads up first thing in spring, BUT... the @#$% squirrels have never let me enjoy any so I quit planting them many years ago.

Today I was in Dollar Tree and they had a very small box of some pathetic flower bulbs in packages, BUT... the crocus bulbs were just fine and all were already sprouting! So I bought 2 packages - how could I not for just $2 for 16 bulbs, and I potted them up when I got home. Hopefully the sun will be strong enough through the window in here, and I'll be able to enjoy the bright and cheery colors in a few weeks!

I'm hoping that since they sprouted in the store, that I'll still get flowers from them? I guess time will tell.

Carol - I hope you have success too!

So, you planted them inside? I've never done that. You'll have to post a picture.

I think I'm going to copy you because they are so tiny that the ones I have scattered about outside don't make a pretty show.

Sheri - I've never done this before either, but I figured it was only $2, so if they didn't flower it wouldn't be a big loss, ya know?

Here's keeping our fingers crossed...

I love my crocuses, I have purple and yellow ones! They are always so cheery being the first ones up in my yard and I get all excited over seeing those little flowers.

Hope it works out for you Lynne, and like you said for that price it's not a bad gamble.

I have some also, as soon as the snow melts in a spot, they pop up and bloom.

I'm tempted by the pot idea. Of course if I ever move I won't be happy transporting more pots but what the hey. It can't hurt much lol.

I've got some narcissus bulbs someone here sent me that I think I'll stick in some pots this afternoon. I'll take pictures when they spring up. With this warm weather it may be too late this year.

They could surprise you, Sheri. Bulbs are storing next year's blooms with their greenery this year. Narcissus are a favorite for forcing.

I'm going to steal this post for a while...when I get crocus bulbs, do I need to give them a cold period to bloom? I got some saffron crocus and planted them, leaves came up fine and all but no blooms?

I'll bet a big pot full of them will be gorgeous. I may try that myself.
