I've had this bird cage for a year or so and finally did something with it!! After several coats of rust-0-leum rust barrier clear coat I then used a coconut fiber liner and planted calibrachoa's yellow and Pink w/ yellow throats and threw some bocopa in with it and this is what I got!! Hopefully it will fill out nicely this spring/summer!

Remember TX gets hot as Heck here in the summer and it will be in full afternoon sun,,

MGs? petunias, nasturtiums, ivy, silver falls (Dichondra or whatever they're called), starwberry (you get fruit too!), fuschia (i love those, but maybe you're a bit too hot for them), geraniums?, impatiens, some houseplant with vining characters (maybe take cuttings and stick them inside the cage?)

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
Morning glories! ~ I got that bird cage at Garden Ridge,, they also have them at hobby lobby, and Michael's if you have any of those in your area,
Sheri none of the nurseries have them yet and the ones I have in ground are still covered with leaves and not peeking thru yet!

Sheri,, I took your advice and placed "Lucky Red Hot trailing Lantana" in the birdcage, I also have Morning glories started in there around the sides a little lower in the cage so I hopefully will have the lover half growing MG out from around the sides of it too, we'll see how that works,,

I took the top of the cage off, then wrapped the coconut fiber lining around the roots and soil and slipped it down into the cage,, What was hard was getting the stems and leaves thru the bars as I was closing the top,, I broke 7 or 8 branches off doing it,, Dang it! But I see there are starts beginning to grow off those broken pieces,,
