You might try to plant some 'butterfly weed' around your veggies. The aphids love the plant but won't harm it. Then in turn, lady bugs are attracted to the plant to eat the aphids. Marigolds could help too. (butterfly weed also attracts monarch butterflies.)

Since they are on veggies you probably don't want to use an insecticidal soap. Have you tried soapy water and spray it on the plants?

lady bugs do work well, but they won't stay where you want them unless they have an ongoing supply of aphids to eat.

Enrique, I thought Sevin was banned in California.
A good jet of water every day for several days will help a lot, but you might want to try Neem oil, a natural pesticide, or a pyrethrin spray. Knock 'em down with water every chance you get until you get something better, they can cause a lot of damage in no time at all.

are u serious sevin isnt working are us using enough? it works wonders on my plants try a lemon spray take the peels of 3 small lemons and a quart of water and boil it for 10 minutes let cool and spray the plant u have to get the bottoms of the leaves or else it will not work u have to spray it directly on the plants, be sure to test a couple of leaves first to check for burning and other effects...
