This grew last year in the same place nothing ever bloomed from it,, this year it's back,, but this year there is a bud?? Maybe?? that wasn't there last year,, does anyone have a clue what it is why ,, IF it's a weed I've got to get it outta there!! boohoo

I didn't pull it out last year understanding flowers some times bloom the second year,, I finally cut it back in the early fall last year it had been there most the spring and summer,, and never bloomed anything,

looks like gladiola. seems way to early for it though.

I have gladiola coming up already I've planted in the back yard,, I really don't believe it's gladiola's,, I've had them for a few years in the back ,, Unless,,, this is a shorter version with much thinner leaves and grows in clumps,, there are probably 7-10 of these clumps of growth, why

yes, they would be a bit clumped if the bulbs have baby bulbs on them - lots more leaves would be there.

and, yes, there are varieties that have slimmer leaves and that don't grow as tall. they're sometimes sold as 'peacock lily' rather than as glads.

Hey I looked it up and it looks real close,, as far as the leaves goes,, Thanks Joclyn kissie ,, When It blooms IF it does this year,, I'll post a picture here to confirm so you can see!! thumbup

Cool, we can't overwinter glads here and most times they are forgotten in the ground and need to be replanted...it never even dawned on me that they would produce babies.

don't be surprised if the flower is COMPLETELY different from what you expect/usually see for glads!!! some of these others have flowers that look like lily flowers...hence the name 'peacock lily'.

can't wait to see the pics!!

My glad's leaves come up in a fan shape, but have the same type bud....unless what i'm calling a gladiola is something else?
