I just got my garden planted last week, I have tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, crookneck squash, zuchinni squash, basil, raspberries and strawberries.
How often should I water? Our daytime temps are in the 80's. Is there any way to tell if the plant needs water by the way it looks? Right now I am watering lightly every morning.
Thanks,
Arlene

Try not to get the tomato leaves wet, or to let water splash up from the ground. You may not need to water every day...it depends on how your soil drains. I poke my finger into the soil...if it's moist, I wait to water for a day.

yea, wait till dry before you water. especially on the watermelon and cantaloupe. first year for me for those, but I've been hearing if they stay too wet they'll be sour tasting and not sweet.
