We have been looking at houses to buy and one that we will be making an offer on has a gorgeous tree in front of the house, but I do not know what it is. I don't have a picture of the tree right now, but I'm going to stop and take one tomorrow on the way to church. I can describe the tree as best I can for now tho. The tree is on the smaller side...maybe 10-12 feet tall and the branches droop kind of like a weeping willow. Right now there are what look like small flower buds ALLLLL over the tree and they are the prettiest deep purple color I've ever seen. The trunk, if I remember correctly, has white bark and couldn't have been more than 10-12 inches thick. That is all that I can remember about the tree for now. Can anyone give me a good guess so that I can try to find some pictures online until tomorrow????

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
Well, I looked at pictures of all of those suggestions, but none of them look like this tree. I don't remember seeing any kind of leaves on this tree...and the purple flower buds aren't opened or flowery-looking....they look like little groupings of purple balls. The pictures of the weeping cherry tree did look close to it tho.... I'll make sure we get pictures of it tomorrow morning. :)
I don't think so.....there are quite a few of these trees around that small town. I got some pictures of it today, but will have to wait until tomorrow to post it because it is late, Maddie is sick, and I am just too tired right now. The tree did have some actual flower type of blooms on it....so maybe it is one of the trees mentioned above....and after looking at the tree today, I realized that it isn't weeping like I thought it was the other day. My photographic memory must have been out of film the other day.
It is beautiful. My western redbud doesn't have such long stems on the flowers. They are clasped very close to the branches and sometimes right on the trunk.

If all goes well with the home inspection on Saturday, we are planning on putting an offer in for the house. To our knowledge nobody else has looked at the house...it hasn't even been listed yet. Someone at our church had told us that the family was going to list the house and we contacted them directly. I really hope all goes well and we get the house. I really like the front and back yards. :)
Good luck......That flat area is a good thing also.. Sort of privacy with the porch next to the drive like that.. I think the Rododendrem has privacy also..
Gorgeous tree when blooming!! Does anyone know whether this tree proliferates? It seems to me that my Grandmother had a couple of these in her yard when I was growing up there and now they seem to be popping up there all over the place without "assistance" or "permission." They have to be pulled out or cut down. :)
