I had some minor glitches with my PC today which is why I've not been on sooner. I just had to reboot twice and finally shut down ZoneAlarm, so now I'm sailing the cyber seas once more.
Today I'm trying to focus on cleaning up the house completely because of all the company we are having tomorrow. My son, though darling, is a terrible little mess maker. He tends to drop everything right in the living room! The room is fine; he comes in, I turn around and am invariably surprised. Maxi has done it again. So, when he comes home tomorrow I will remind him not to be such a clutterer. Good luck to me!
Meantime, the dishwasher is running and I'm getting ready to throw in a load of towels. It'll be nice to have all of that done so I can concentrate on the food and party plans.

Hello everyone, It's boring here today. It's cloudy and it's raining.Last week it was 100 degrees now it's 60 something. I made some custard for dessert.I don't know what to make for Sunday dinner.
can you do yard work for extra money during the week?
i know that when i was a kid, if we said we were bored, we got handed a chore to do. so we learned to amuse ourselves. so, when my kids said they were bored, i did the same thing. only my son will admit to being bored.
when i'm feeling bored now (very rare that that happens) i usually just take a nap or log on here to see what's happening.
I so hope Maxi does NOT cram up his high school years with jobs. Time enough for that when he is older. Fat chance I have of holding him back, though, as he is SUCH a little earner now.
Today wasn't as productive as I'd hoped because I am tired, but I still got some important things done.
I'm going to bed early tonight and putting off having my first "Tea & Sympathy" for yet another time. I never did have it last night. Maybe Monday night.

Jonni has been doing odd jobs for neighbors. A little dog sitting, a little house cleaning. (this last cracks me up because you should see her room). Today I took her shopping at a huge mall we have here. That cash was burning a hole in her bra. She had fun buying things for herself that I won't buy her. I get basics only.

basics only is how it is here. we did the basic clothing, if they wanted special or brand name, they had to pay the difference.
and no job unless the grades would let them, the girls both worked, matthew didn't. they liked school, matthew didn't.
they couldn't get their driver's license until they could pay for insurance, that was another the girls did, matthew didn't. matthew is catching up slowly though.
The girls always did very well in high school--I was speaking of summer jobs--but both girls on their own got these jobs---and yes they both worked 2 evenings a week--but not more t hatn 3 or so hours---school was the prioity here too.
as a matter of fact we told them NO jobs in college that were not school based becasue their JOB then was to get good grades & do well in school. If they had school sponsored jobs they could beeg off to study or do a paper---so their studies did not suffer---

don't know if anyone is still around...but, I'm just popping in for a few. what a day! I'm pooped. but it was a very productive day! did some work around our pool. we got it cleaned out and filling with water, and tomorrow hubby will take a look at the pump which failed out right at the end of the season last year. hopefully it will be an easy fix. I do the same thing on cloths....I give the kids a dollar amt on what I'll pay for shoes, jeans, whatever, if they want some fancy name brand stuff they do chores or mow grass to earn the money for the difference.

The coffee here isn't too bad although my girl put the wrong milk in it. Still, it is drinkable, and that is what counts first thing in the AM!
We have what is shaping up to be a lovely Memorial Day... cool and breezy with plenty of sunshine and clear skies. Gotta love May day like this in Maine.
I want more sleep but won't have any time for a nap today. Poor sleepy me.

We left from my house and my grandma drove to tampa traffic was kinda heavy and i was like i dont know if i can do this but she pulled over and made me drive and i did i got the hang of it after driving in the really slow lane for a couple hours building up confidence... then i got good =) I was able to drive through downtown atlanta at rush hour! my grandma said if i can do that i can do anything... lol so i drove the entire way we did stay a night in callhoun georgia... But omg going through the mountains in kentucky or tennisee there was one trucker who did not use his turn signals and was only suposed to dirve in the right lane because of signs... we were on the side of him and i KNOW WE were not in his blindspots my dad has taught me about the blindspots on semis... and he decid to get in our lane while we were on the left side and omg i had to slam on the brakes and he just gets in front of us so i wasnt going to take any chances we stayed far behind then he done this to like 3other cars... then he gos to a rest stop and we dont then a lil while later same trucker comes up behind us right up on us litterally! omg... why do people have to be so rude... speed limit 70 we were in the slow lane right hes right behind us so imhaving to go 10mph over which your oly allowed 5 over really so i could get away and find a opening in another lane... but omg i was so scared... because it was in the mountains thank god it was at the base on a strat road.... but moving on other than that rude @ss everything was fine... got to my aunts had fun we dont tons of yard work shes senfing pictures... so i can show you all.. I took a train to downtown chicago for the fist time in my life... ate at ginos east pizza you havnt had pizza till youve had ginos! then the next day we went to lake geniva omg that town was sooo gorgeous!! i wanted to spend the whole day there but we had to get back to pack for the next day to go home... but then we went to the woodfield mall so i could get some 'dress up clothes' for the plane because we fly standby... so done that... but at the airport i got selected for aditional screening! had to get patted down my stuf riffiled through and im barefoot had to undo my pant clasp becuase it was metal got patted down everything.. so embarrassing my grandma laughing! lol it was kinda funny but like... lol but its understandable its their job... but the woman looked mean as heck! haha but yea i have some more new fav plants lilac, magnolia jane... but it was a real fun trip my aunt was so happy well btoh of them 2 of them live close to eatother... lol but yea.... i didnt tell everything becuase if i did it would be much longer than this... but my grandma and eveyone says im really good at dirving even my super paronoid aunt likes my driving... still im still pissed bout the trucker so busy tring not to get run over couldnt get the liscense plate number..

well scott I am sorry for the experience but i am glad yo uare ok. and it was a cheap lesson learned---as you are all ok--- lesson: watch out for the other driver--always---
________

I know that lesson but i was watching using the mirrors and watching but he didnt use his turn signals he didnt use his mirrors becuashe didnt turn his head at all! he just cut in front of us withought looking... but yea its a lesson learnd i now know why im paronoid about semis and why i don't like them at all! semis are evil as well as some as the drivers of them!
pleaseee... Betty Crocker aint got nothing on me =)
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with that trucker. I think, after years of driving, that the ratio of bad truck drivers is probably the same as the ratio for bad car drivers. There are some mighty good ones out there too. You just need to keep alert all of the time when driving. It actually sounds like you handled it well.

Good Morning, We had rain most of last night- it is really wet and soggy outside- sure hope sun comes out later... it is making me ache in places I fogot I had... Hubby had plans to clean out the gutters but that won't happen today ,way to wet to be climbing around on the roof. I was going to go and plant my seeds today too- but it is all mud so that won't happen either-- oh well... Have a good day all! Nana
I'm having some of that hot coffee you poured earlier, Tam. I need it bad to finish waking up. My clock says I'm awake and my fingers are typing but the rest of me sure doesn't agree.
Good morning, everyone ~
Our rain isn't here yet but is expected later today.
I have the a/c in my room going. Perhaps it will also help relieve my allergies which seem so difficult this season all of a sudden. Aging changes, gotta love 'em.

Wow, Afgrey! I don't know if I should be more impressed with how early you got up today OR how late you slept that day last week!
I have been very blessed. Arthritis doesn't run in my family and none of us get those very painful hand changes as we age. I'm grateful all the time to be able to use my hands easily.

It's good to see you on and in CH, though, my friend.

Oh, I forgot to tell you about the surprise breakfast Maxi made for me this morning. He got up way earlier than the alarm and decided to make us a breakfast of re-heated hot dogs from the grill yesterday! I do not enjoy hotdogs most of the time and certainly not first thing in the morning! But he put them on hotdog rolls and wrapped them all up and brought them to me on a tray while I was still in bed. I put on quite a show of delight because I was delighted at his efforts and managed to choke down a bite before he left to go to school. He was so pleased with himself, I couldn't disappoint the kid by revealing my true feelings at the sight of hotdogs so early in the day.
Isn't he just so sweet?
