Hi all. i've gotten great advice here in the past, so i hope you can help again! a few months ago, i heavily pruned my flowering maple and had great results getting new, fuller growth. however, lately the leaves are lying flat against the plant (it only used to do this at night and then when the sun would come out it would perk up) and ive had some leaf drop. i repotted the plant and stuck it out on my balcony a couple days ago. it gets direct morning sun but indirect the rest of the day. previously it was in a window that got pretty much full sun all day.

anyone have any idea what is happening to it? also it hasnt flowered in about a year, but that could be due to fertilizer. i have been fertilizing it about once a month. i would love to see this plant healthy and flowering again!

thanks!

I cannot help with the leaf problem. It sounds like your patio is an ideal situation. Make sure it gets regular water.
The pruning is a great thing to keep it from getting leggy. But when you do that you often sacrifice bloom. They bloom on the new growth branch tips. If you cut them back you also lose the bloom. With flowering maple it is a tricky balancing act to prune a bit for shape and leave some end growth for bloom. Try doing any hard pruning in fall. And judicious pruning in spring if needed.
