Lynne ~ How special for you to have those pictures; they are really nice. Thanks so much for showing them.
I don't believe I have any photos from 30 years ago.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Gee why is it I have to do everything twice around here? Cause I don't get it right the first time I guess!!! Uh Duh! Anyway once again the pictures are great of you guys and the ferry. What part of Alaska did you live in? I lived in Petersburg for a while and then later in Fairbanks. Many many years ago.

I was only in Anchorage one time. Went to spend the weekend with a girlfriend and celebrate my birthday. Ironically it was her boyfriends birthday too but he had to work (at Chilicoot Charlies where we were celebrating). It wasn't pleasant driving back the next day!

OMG!!! Chilkoot Charlies was ALSO in Girdwood where my husband (then boyfried) lived!!! I haven't thought of that place in a lonnnnnnnnnnng time! We could walk there easily from his house - as a matter of fact, it's one of the first places we went to on a date!!!
You are not listening. That was 40 years ago (and 30 pounds). I was 17. That was a glamor type shot for a brochure of a project I was involved in. The photographer was very good at hiding flaws. But if you look you can see my nose is crooked (and quite large) and so is my smile.

I do like me much better now, as long as there isn't a mirror around. My face is falling (as well as other parts of me) and your nose never stops growing. I love my gray hair. It has more body than my juvenile hair ever did. I hate cameras

I do have green eyes, Diana. I stopped growing at the age of 12 at 5' 7 1/2" and about 98 pounds. I got my weight up to healthy at age 14 and stayed there for years. My hair was medium-light brown as a child and darkened to dark brown. Very straight with a pair of cowlicks in the front. Now I am mostly gray, a little over-weight and gravity has taken its toll.

TINA, those are the first and only pics I've ever seen of you! You were so pretty, and I'm sure you are still just as pretty--gray hair, gravity, and all. It's so cool to actually see pictures of you!
Now I just want to see a more recent picture. There has to be one around there somewhere.
I really don't think so, Loz. I avoid cameras well. I really need to get a decent pic of me though so someday when my kids want one (like for my funeral) they will have one. If/when i get one, I will share it here as well.

You are very welcome. Don't know how I thought of it but all of a sudden Chilicoot Charlies just popped into my head. I LOVE it when my brain clicks in - just doesn't seem to happen much anymore so I REALLY get excited. That birthday was the only time I was ever at Chilicoots or Anchorage. Fun memories! Guess I should dig out an old picture. I have one somewhere out past Fairbanks where they had a huge stuffed moose in front of this restaurant we use to go to and my sister in law and I were kissing the moose. I think it was about 33 years ago. I'll have to see if I can find it!

Raingardener - what year were you in Alaska? I was there from June 1977 - August 1978. Took one trip up to Fairbanks when my parents and sister came to visit me.
I was offered a job to teach Head Start way up in the bush - would have had to go in a 2 seater plane - UH, UHHH!!! Don't like flying in a large plane so I wasn't going to do that! Besides... I didn't want to live in the middle of nowhere - I need lots of people around me!
By the way... I sent an email to Chilkoot Charlies asking them about the place in Girdwood - sent it about a week ago and have not gotten a response.
plants 'n' pots I was in Fairbanks from around 1971 to 1976 or so. I also lived in Southeast Alaska in Petersburg before that - around 1967 or so for a couple of years. After 1976 I flew back to WA State and have never been back. Brrrrrr Fairbanks was soooooooooo cold. Although with all the rain in this state I sometimes think it's colder because Fairbanks was so dry. It was a really fun time but guess I'm here to stay. My husband and I were just talking about how I had beautiful houseplants in Fairbanks - one which was a fern in that dry country and I can't grow one here inside for anything. I've killed quite a few of them. I just don't understand that. LOL O'well! I do much better outside with my flowers.

OH MY GOODNESS Shirley - you were so skinny in that second picture!!! Where were they taken?
Raingardener - I never made it down to southeast Alaska - I'm not much of a flyer, and didn't really have occassion to go there anyway, but I would have loved to have seen it.
I wish I was 115 !!!!! But I got down from 150 to 135 so I guess I should be happy. I'm trying for 130 or 125, though, then I will be content. I know I will never see the LOW 100's again!!!!
So far this is the only picture of me I've found and it was in Johnny's wallet that I washed last night so we had to take everything out of it. Interestingly, this old picture made it through. The newer pictures of the grand children now have all the picture washed off. Sometimes old is better. I don't know if it will show up here but I'm trying.
Me either Sheri - I'll never see that height in this lifetime!!!
Sheri - you are one sexy lady in that picture!
Loz - I'll never stand next to you - I can't believe you are taller than that fridge - I can't even reach on top of ours to get bags of chips when Don pushes them to the back!!!
I have some of me from way back in teh day--I just have to figure out how to scan them into my computer to get them to Photobucket to get them to here.
& Val has been on vacation, (anyone remember what that is???)& so I could not ask for her help. Good news??? she will be h ome sometime tonight--at least that was her plan. so hopefully I will have a p ic or 2 in the near future to show you all.

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain!! .....
thanks Loz--and yes I did have a small waste. I weighed 122 when I was 2 months along with valarie in 1980, and then when she was in High school I gave her a short set I had not worn much, as it was her favorite color.....she could not wear it--it seems I was smaller than her even then. I have NO idea what happened.
hey Loz, did you get my PM???

You did a great job of posting the pictures Carol - congrats!
And wow - you were pretty serious in the first two, huh? (just teasing you!) Great pictures, and you look much more relaxed in the picture with Rod - amazing what love can do, right?!?
I did have glasses. I had them until 6th grade and then I didn't need them anymore. I looked very dorky in glasses. They were so big but I guess that is what was in then. The color of my prom dress in that picture isn't the best but it was a light blue. I loved that dress!
I had a huge nose in my baby picture! Thankfully it isn't that big anymore.
Get your baby picture out so we can see!
Did you notice in one of the pictures that my mom covered all of our furniture in afghans?!?
Our baby pictures don't look that much alike but he looks a lot like me now. This is not his newborn pic but you can get the idea.
And here is a more recent pic of him. This one is over a year old but again...you get the idea. I don't have any newer ones on this computer that are that close up.

I am loving all these pictures!!! Once again, thanks for keeping this thread going! It's fascinating to see what everyone looked like years ago!
Here is my high school yearbook picture senior year - we only did pictures for that last year.
And a wedding picture that I've posted before - Nov. 3rd, 1979 - 29 years ago. A cousin took this picture - it's much better than any the professional photographer took!
This was taken October 14, 1995 when Maxi was 10 days old. We were still in the NICU.

This is me on my first day of Kindergarden. It was far longer ago than 30 years, by the way!

Yup, at 3 1/2 lbs., Maxi was an itty bitty but man oh man, all that hair made everyone chuckle. Even his docs kept pictures of him.
And yup, that was my blankie. My Aunt Marion in TN made me that quilt and it was my most favorite. All the children had to bring a blanket to school for nap time and I loved mine.
I had very pale blonde hair with silvery streaks all of my life until I got into my mid-30's. Then it started getting darker. But even now, it isn't very dark.

WOW!!!!!!!! im all over the forum at the moment trying to catch up on whats happening. I love this thread Its great seeing photos from years ago, only drawback is that it makes me feel a little nostalgic, and keep asking myself where have all those years gone?
And Jess ~ In that pale blue junior prom gown you remind me of those delicate ladyslippers; a highly treasured, old-fashioned flower.

I love these pics! Lynne you were a beautiful bride! Shirley, that picture of you is so special and so cute! Your daddy loved you! And Merme, love the picture of you and Maxi. That is so precious. And you were such a cute little girl!
Here's a few more I dug out.
Have a laugh at me when I dyed my hair and it went BRIGHT BRIGHT!!! ORANGE!!! I was about 17 there.
My fav. pic that Cindy restored for me! Me and my sister when I was about 3.
Me in front of our old house in England when I went back at 15.
Miss loz! Gotta love you in bright bright ORANGE hair!

I was at my thinnest here at 19...a size 5, although you can't tell from my big shirt. Loving the big digital cowboys watch I had on. And that's my mom, and my nana....Nana loves to color her hair too and has always been a bright redhead.
On the box it did NOT look orange like that. I was traumatized. It was the big town heritage day and I soooooooooo did not want to go....my sister made me go.
Dorky, dorky me!!!! With my favoritest doggy in the world. That I miss so bad still to this day.
Great pictures, Loz! I woudda gone swimming in your "pool", too!
By the way, did you see my last PM because your flashy thingy is on the blitz?

Luckily I had 2 great friends with pools, one was an Olympic sized pool. So I got to swim a lot growing up. But when we couldn't go there dad would drag out the good old sprinkler.
Merme, I'm so sorry--I read it and meant to answer it...the phone rang at the time and I never did answer it. We are going out now but I will get to it when I get back.
Christmas 1997, Maxi was 2 and we were at a Potluck Supper.

This is Maxi and I sometime in 1996. We were at a reunion of Moms and Babies who were in the NICU together late in 1995.
Don't be fooled by my very dark "hair" in this photo and the previous one at the Potluck supper. I am wearing a wig in both pictures.
