My carriage house that HD and I built is 16 feet by 28 feet.

We used 12 by 6 poles for the sides...........

If your doing smaller ones 8by8 use 4x6 ........will do.

Good luck.Tamara you can cut some trees down and use them..
Maybe a grape arbro..

Grapes won't grow here Dodge...Our shed we have now has cedar tree posts for corners. Outlasts any cut lumber thumbup

Our neighbour owns a small saw mill. If we can get the time we could cut our own cedar for lumber. DH works pretty steady now, seems like when he is off it rains.

That is true and good....
My grape arbor is just tree posts....

Cut wood is lousy and costly.
