I got this at Lowes on the clearance shelf,, it cost 8$ including the urn/pot it came in,, but a large limb was split almost all the way down the main stock and it had blooms about to open Another limb on the opposite site was also broken half off,, I read it can be graphed to propagate since I took this picture I wrapped a strip of cheesecloth around it then used a grocery bag (plastic) and secured it on with that,, Don't know if I did that right or not,, pretty much guessing,, anyone have any better ways of graphing it back,, or should I just totally remove the bigger piece and try to start in a new pot?? ![[Linked Image]](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e374/2thtek/yard%20and%20flowers/DSCF0042-1.jpg)

you might have better luck pruning back all the branches. i mean almost down to almost right at the caudex.
it'll help the plant recuperate from the damage.
does the break go down into the caudex or is it just the branch?

Hi Joclyn thanks for replying,, the larger one is just right there at the caudex. this morning the buds on it bloomed,, can you believe that>? I really did consider taking it on off , maybe I should I'll post a picture later today,,, the other branch is broken just on the branch, ![[Linked Image]](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e374/2thtek/yard%20and%20flowers/DSCF0002-1.jpg) as you can see it was stripped all the way down the base should I cover that area as well? ![[Linked Image]](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e374/2thtek/yard%20and%20flowers/DSCF0007-1.jpg)

what gorgeous flowers!!! i LOVE the color!!
the break on the branch is easy - just prune it off right below where the break is...even if you have to do it right at the base of the branch where it meets the caudex. it'll grow back - and will have more branches.
now, the caudex. oh, boy! that is BAD! is it completely through the caudex or just at the top part of it? did you unpot it to take a look?
i don't think the caudex would re-grow together. i'm not sure though. depending on whether the break goes all the way down/through you could just prune off everything above where the break is (if it's only on the surface part) or, if it goes further, you could try to see if it regrows together - wrap with gauze and then lightly cover with plastic to keep water out (like you did with the upper part) and see what happens .
if it goes all the way down and if there are enough roots on each part of the caudex, then, each piece may continue to grow (and you'll have two plants). the caudex of each would be a bit funky though...you can do things to force the bulbous part to grow though, so you may be able to get it back to something somewhere close to normal.
that's if the pieces don't die. make sure to keep the open wound area dry - water carefully so you don't splash. they like being in full sun, so do that, too. just keep the open areas covered from the direct light until they callous over. i'd think they would.
oh, i hope it works out for you!!! that'a particularly nice one!!

Thanks Joclyn, and No I didn't look further than soil level, I'm glad you said full sun because I have it in shade right now because it's 105 out ,, went up one degree than we thought,, geeeez!! I will wrap the lower portion then I was thinking if I let air to that area it would callous over and be fine,, I need to go get some gauze,, Dwight told me to stop cutting the cheese cloth up because we use it to cover our vents in rooms we don't use so those rooms don't get cooled and shut the doors in them,, it really does help cool the rest of the house much better, Annnnnnnnyway,,,,,, thanks again,, I really appreciate your input,,!

Now a ? for y'all. Are they really a rose? nope, not quite.
both are in the same kingdon/division/class. they are in different orders (and all subsquent classifications), so, no adenium isn't really a 'rose'. it IS the closest you'll find to a rose in the desert though...thus it's common name.

Wow Dodge, Okay I've got the laugh in for ya,,! well danggggggg I 've only got one and you've got 8 Do you know what color your Blooms are going to be? I read that when the bloom turns to seed you have to wrap the seed pod because the slightest of wind will blow the seeds to who knows where,,,,

fantastic!! looks like it's going to be okay, then!!! yeah, i'd take it in for the winter. they don't like frost at all, much less extended cold periods. they don't need as much watering in winter as they do go a bit dormant.
i'm so glad it's survived for you!! they're such pretty plants!
