We are having a slow sort of morning, here. We are both overtired, so we're not pushing ourselves into anything elaborate. It is hot and sunny here today... well, pardon my use of the word "hot" for those of you who live in truly hot climates, but it IS hot for us!

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Merme, we'll let you call it hot up there in august...if you let some of us southern folk call it cold down here in january!
You got yourself a deal, Missy Cricket!
I really have no business complaining about today's weather... but when we've been down into the 60's for a while, this does feel rather hot!

Merme, I'm the same we are not used to heat so it doesn't take much to make it seem hot.
It's been in the high 50's..low 60's here all week. Great weather for digging around outside.
In fact I'm on my way out to see if I can hook up the bucket to the front end loader. I need to go get a scoop of topsoil to fill in all the holes I made taking out those cr@ppy currant bushes.
~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.
Good luck with that big project, Tam. I hope you are pleased with the final results of all your digging and getting rid of and whatnot.

as for the actual avatar, only the hostesses, bill, and willy have their own. everyone else chooses from the selection (that is a huge)

I'm still up, monitoring my insulin pump for a while. Last night it gave me a hard time smack dab in the middle of the night! It alarmed at 1 AM to say I needed to put a new battery in the thing, so I got up, went to the kitchen, did the new battery, watched it run through all its little self checks and went back to bed. 15 MINUTES later, it was alarming again and this time I had to take it off, prime the tubing, and insert it again. I was so So SO annoyed -- and bleary-eyed -- by the time I got back to bed, I'm still irked about it tonight! So, before I get in bed for real tonight, I am making it do every little thing it could possibly want to do!
So, I'm having some Red rose tea and reading up on the forum....

I am a cranky me this morning, so I'm pulling the reins in on myself a bit. I do not mind being a person of deeply passionate emotions, but I could do without the tempestuous elements that arise from time to time!

Oh, Jiffy, me too! I was without it for a year and a half and ohmygoodness, that was SUCH a mess! It is a wonderful relief to me to have this new one as it removes about 99% of the stress of staying stable AND it provides both remarkable stability and freedom.
I think part of my trouble with the transition is that I used to have a very early version of the pumps and I used that one for many years. Now I have a super-duper, updated version and it gives me the notion it is smater than I am! But I truly am delighted with it --- except for when it starts alarming in the middle of the night behaving for all the world like a sleepless toddler!
And the beautiful thing is, my blood sugars are staying pretty much textbook perfect with no vast fluctuations making me sick all the time! I'm just sailing along, feeling really well!
Oh the blessings of modern technology can be wondrous to behold. (Except for when glitches appear )
Today it seems we have the threat of rain but we are doing laundry anyway.
Maxi leaves in the morning, so we gotta pack the kid up!
And for a special treat for lunch, we are making mac 'n cheese and will add in a little leftover browned ground beef.

I always fret some when I hear of areas that are desperate for rain but aren't getting it. Draught scares me; it just does. Having lived in parts of the country that went through very dry times, I can remember waiting and waiting for the rains and I do not like that feeling at all. But! What a welcome relief it is when they finally come!
Maxi has been practicing his "high note" for the last two days. He sings correctly (from the diaphragm) and doesn't strain the vocal cords, so I'm letting him do it. But OH MAN OH MAN, can he ever get up there! He starts out from within the Star Spangeled Banner "and the home of the brave" and sings "brave" just where you expect it to be then steps it up another octave in about 4 intervals til he is way UP there. Then he starts laughing and asking me if he will shatter glass if he keeps going?
No, not glass, my son... just Mommy's eardrums!

Too funny, Merme! But I'm glad he has a passion and practices for himself and you!
We have beautiful weather right now, but we are supposed to get some severe thunderstorms moving in around noon - I highly doubt it will come then, as that's only 45 minutes from now!
I hope your nice weather holds through next week, Lynne. Maxi will be in Long Island around the 19th or 21st, (we're not sure yet) and I am hoping it will be beautiful weather for them.
Last night I tried to look up the college our friend will be attending out on Long Island so I could show Maxi about it before the trip, but since there are 17 colleges out there, it was hopeless! I've gotta ask my friends which one it is because Maxi would like to see some of the area on-line first but our time together before he goes is rather short.
My son has great enthusiasm for his endeavors... he has a real touch of that "joy for living" and I find it endearing (if a little hard on the ears at times).

Lunciano wouldn't be so bad, Jiffy! I'm concerned I'm going to end up with the guy who sang "Sherry Baby" -- remember that high note man?
At least, though, Maxi doesn't scream. When he was in pre-K he told me he hated music class because all the children screamed instead of singing. I mentioned that to his teacher and she laughed and said he was right -- almost all of them screamed for their singing.
