Well I never got anything I intended to do done so there is always tomorrow- we went to Wally's for boots for the boys... found some too - usually they sell out of the sizes they need early. I had a scare - couldn't find my bill checkbook... I had forgotten hubby took it to emission my car last week- he never gave it back- had left it under the seat of the car- had to call him to find out where it was... he never uses it so I didn't even think to ask him for it that day.... all is well now though ... had a full book of checks in it so really didn't want it lost. I pay most stuff on line anymore so didn't miss it till today.... talk about senior moments couldn't even remember when I had used it last.... Well off to go start the laundry- gotta get something done today. Nana
Carol , that is what we call taco salad... sounds good... if we hadn't gone to Mickey D's for lunch for which I am really sorry - gave me a stomach ache... I would be tempted to make some too, guess I will give Mom and hubby leftovers for dinner tonight... I will stick to maybe soup later on... Carrie just picked up last one.. he stayed here to play his alphabet sounds game we made up - he now knows 16 letters well and their sounds so something is working for him.... he loves math so we use the number names as much as possible in learning the sounds of the letters.... so far it is helping him catch on ... teacher says he has improved a lot in just a couple weeks. Nana
Yes and before I ever heard of taco salad, we called them American tacos. Very good. I bought John and Jonni take-out tacos for lunch. Haven't figured out dinner yet. I have some home made soup to polish off.

Taco salad sounds really good tonight to me, too. But I had a grilled cheese. I may get the fixings for a taco salad for the weekend when Maxi is here as he will enjoy it alot. Up here lots of families use Catalina dressing to replace the taco seasoning. It is a very mild but delicious flavor.
I came home from dialysis and slept hard for 2 hours.

good to hear you got a good rest merme. I have had the taco salad with the catalina dressing. that is good too, although I'm a huge cheese lover! melted cheese on taco salad....mmmmm..mmmmm. I'm pooped, guys. I'm going to read a few more post and maybe crochet a bit before bed. I'm almost finished turning last years 'throw' blanket into a 'blanket' blanket. now I need a new project??????

When we move, I am looking forward to getting a new couch. I need something higher up and more firm. The one we have now is so low and soft, I can get stuck in it, so I don't sit there when I'm home alone. So, if I need to get out of my chair, I go lay on my bed. That's boring though. With the new couch, I'll be able to sit comfortably and crochet again.

The Taco crunch/salad was very good, but I usually have regular tomatoes--and the juice of them make a sort of dressing.--tonight the tomatoes were cherry and so the salad was kinda dry--I guess we could of used some dressing. ah well next time I guess.
2 hours sleep, Merme?? did it throw off your bed time schedule???
Good night Cricket

Nope, Carol Jean, no thrown off schedule here. I am so tired all the time, I can sleep in an instant -- any time, any place!
Sorry your salads were more dry than you like. Disappointing!

Well not Merme but here is breakfast.... Coffee... teas, hot choc for those that want it.... assorted juices too A big bowl of fresh fruits, eggs cooked to order- different breads too- ham, bacon- have some venison bacon too if you like- pancakes , french toast too .. different flavors of syrups ... and fruit toppings if you like... have a good day .... Nana
Thanks for breakfast, Nana!! I am hungry but don't feel like cooking!
Today I am cleaning this messy apt, do or die. My pal Sam went off to do errands for me... pharmacy, wall-mart, groceries. YAY! On the list are cleaning supplies (yuck, hiss boo) and Maxi's Guitar Hero World Tour he saved up for (yay!)

Cleaning is good, Merme. My house needs some major reorganization. But it isn't happening soon. I take John in for his last radiation therapy and a Dr visit in a few. It will be interesting to see what is what in there. Then some shopping for foody-stuff and picking my son up from school. He will be in the pool when I get there. That is always fun to watch.

I just was hungry too so decided I better make a good breakfast for everyone- and then I went and ate a bowl of cheerios... LOL! with a banana too... was really good and hit the spot for me... Joe just put up the Christmas lights- we use he big ones- old style.... and now he is fixing the gutter where it came loose... needs to be done before winter shows up for real here.. Going to take Mom to Doc again this afternoon- she still has the UTI I think... she needs to be checked anyway... and hit the pharmacy for her refills too... would like to work on getting my bulbs planted too while it is still warm... so may do that too. Tina we are working on the reorganizing thing too- need to make a play area in the basement for the kidlets this winter- and a real office space for me somewhere... tired of stuff getting lost or misplaced... may just have to give up having a bed for the boys upstairs and take my office back... we can always use the airbeds for them if they spend the night.. Nana
I've only been working for 2 hours and I am EXHAUSTED! I need a nap! I need an army of helpers! I need a bigger home where I could actually put things away and not just move them around!

Need some cheese with that whine, Merme? I like to call it venting. Then I don't feel so much like a 3 year old. But sometimes it helps a little. I am on my way out again. Just a quick peek in for me.

My friend Sam suggested I not look at the bigger picture of all that needs done in here but to look at small tasks and set myself to do just one. Once it is finished, I can go to the next small task OR call it a done deal for the day. Pacing myself in spite of the work remaining. So, that's how I set about it today, just one small job at a time.
It is a tough approach when you want it all done NOW though!

Yes Merme that is good advice. There is so much here not done, even though Rod (my DH) thinks hw is doing a good job of taking care of the house.
There is a long sad list, and since it has been 3 months--I have decided to try the approach your friend Sam has suggested. But I must be careful--I have niot been released to a full loead yet, and was warned to move ahead slowly.
I am feeling better, but I guess I need to try to keep it this way.
But I too cannot stand to look at all there is to do---but for now I must just "look".
ah well one day........

Not to mention that a large amount of time & effort can be spent on "hidden" tasks -- things that are needful but do not necessarily show -- such as emptying the dishwasher, doing laundry, etc.
I picked up some Lysol 4 in 1 today and got to scrubbing the fronts of the appliances and cabinets. It has a nice orange scent that cheered me up as I went along.
I would like to have the lions share of this work done before the holidays so I can enjoy them with peace of mind.
I hope things improve for you, too, Carol Jean.
Maxi is going to be astonished when he comes home on Friday and sees his Guitar Hero he's been wanting for a long time! His Aunt Ro sent him money to get it for his birthday last year and things got complicated, so we didn't shop for it. Then the package deals kept changing and he started saving. So, today was the day! Wal-Mart had the latest and best package deal on a special sale, so I got it for him. A very belated but much looked forward to present. This one came with two guitars inside so friends can play together. I think he & his younger brother (and dad) will get a kick out of it.

I used to get overwhelmed with housework too. Or, several days would go by and I'd think....I've been SO busy but what have I done!?! I got a notebook and each morning with coffee I'd write down chores. I'd check them off as I did them. then the next morning I'd count how many chores didn't get done the day before. I wouldn't add too many new ones till the old ones got crossed off. that way I knew I was accomplishing things and knew WHAT I was accomplishing. it made me feel better.
I'm SO happy maxi is getting Guitar Hero, merme. I love that game. I'm not much for video games, but any time my 11 year old asks if he can have a friend stay the night, I look at him seriously and ask, 'he can stay if he brings guitar hero and if yall let me play I'll order pizza'! I've used that line so many times now he will tell me up front - so and so wants to spend the night and, NO he doesn't have guitar hero. crazy mom that kid has.

Cricket--that is a good idea, I have done it myself--esp around holidays when I =need to do extra cleaning...BUT...
Merme and i were speaking of how much work to do when one has been seriously ill or has had surgery. Rest, not over-doing and non-exertion is more important than the work thaqt is needed in a house.

Yes, you are SO right about that! just do the most 'disgusting' thing first, then rest. in time it will get back the way you like it. I remember when my mom was in the hospital and I was basically living at work and at the hospital. when I did come home and things were scarry-dirty-crazy, I said if I ever have to be gone away from this house that long again we will just sell the house 'as is' and move. things can surely pile up when your not looking!

Yes, Cricket, things really CAN pile up when you aren't looking!
The other day I did a hand and finger strength test. My hand strength is less than 1/3 of what it should be for a woman my age and my finger strength is even worse! I knew simple things seemed so hard and I tired easily, I just wasn't sure why. Now I know!
When you are a Get Up & Get It Done Yesterday kind of person, the slowness that can come with recovery can be downright painful to the soul.
I also hate people coming in and thinking I live this way all the time!
Maxi played Guitar Hero at school. The band director provided it for the kids to use from time to time and they'd have competitions. He is pretty good.
Santa may bring him a real guitar this Christmas as he's been wanting lessons but my guitar is too large for him.

The part about people thinking we live like this is right, Merme---
but I just talk about sitting here (like I am supposed to be doing) and looking around at all that needs to be done, but isn't. Rod just smiles & says well it looks like a good job from where I sit....
I hope to look back eventually and laugh at this time ((*Remember when I just sat and did nothing??* ))
a guitar sounds like a good Christmas gift for Maxi to me, Merme..

I :ding: Guitar Hero, tell Maxi that I just got Guitar Hero World for my Nintendo DS.....I LOVE it! Of course I'm better with the big guitar than I am the attachment for the DS, but hey, it's still cool! Music games are a specialty of mine!
