I have bought all the other beads aside from the turquoise ones, to make all the projects I've posted here so far.

Diane - that is a toggle clasp, and while they do look very pretty, they don't always sit right, and I'm not all that fond of them. I have one on a bracelet that I bought years ago, and it's always falling off, so I will never put one on any bracelets that I make. I got some of them at ACMoore, and some at Michael's. They work best with the lighter beads I've found - I would not use them again with the ceramic beads.

Boy, Dianne did you and all your friends a favor in sending those beads because you're articles are beautiful.

Well the items I made that I mentioned above were sent to Diane, and posted in her thank you thread, if anyone missed them

Last night I made a necklace/bracelet set for myself using rhodochrosite beads and silver space beads. I have had this silver hummingbird pin for many years now, and have always wanted a bracelet to wear with it. I came across these beads at the bead "expo" that I went to recently and had to have them! I will make earrings to match once I get better at that - still don't have them down perfectly yet.

Wow!! All of those are absolutely stunning.. I LOVE the hematite! I have always wanted to try beading, but I don't know anyone who does it, so I never really knew where/how to start.. care to share some pointers?? Maybe in a PM? Keep up the beautiful work and more pics please!! =)

Thanks Jennifer!
It's really quite easy - the most difficult part is the crimping when putting the clasps on, and deciding which beads to use where!

Diane... since you asked... blush

I made this set for my mom last night. She wanted something "white" but I didn't like most of the white beads I was seeing. I finally found these glass swirl beads and really liked them, but when I got them home I realized that they are actually a very pale pink - it even says PNK on the back of the card they come on - DUH! touched lol I hadn't bothered to take out my glasses to read that in the store. I still think they are white enough that my mom will like them.

It doesn't look pink here, either, Lynne. It looks silver and white and very pretty to me.

Thanks all. Tina and Jessica - it really doesn't look pink in the picture, but in real life it has the ever-so-slightly tinge of pink, enough to show that it's not stark white.

Dodge - I use beading wire - usually 49 strand, and either .15 or .18 thickness. I use a crimping tool and squeeze very hard - do you bend the crimping bead again after you've crimped it the first time? That is the trick that Liz taught me.

Thanks Sheri and Diane!

Don and I are going to our friends' house tomorrow for New Year's eve, so I made Myrna a necklace/bracelet set. Her all time favorite color is red. I put the keys on, because when our girls were a bit younger, they just had to have keys, and one day we went antiquing in search of nice keys. The ones we found were so ridiculously expensive, that we did not get them a single one!

Your not boring us.....Your teaching me .. I enjoy your flight into beads.
One of these days I might step upon a good idea..
I have to have a reason to do stuff , then I am in full glory of it.

Keep showing us and let us know how the friend enjoyed the key thought.

pretty (I like red too) sweet of you to make for friend. I try to always take a hostess gift. I think it's something that has gotten lost in the new world. I know she will appreciate you and love her present.

I never go anywhere without a hostess gift.. I would find it rude.. In our area if it is a meal , we all bring a separate dish.
No lost art here.

I always bring a hostess gift too. This is just something extra, as I am bringing a store bought cookie cake, but am also making some fudge, and an applesauce/jello/graham cracker cake. Lots of goodies to go around!

Yes, it is why I always try to comment. I want you to keep sharing. I love to look. It is not boring at all.
I also come from the era of hostess gifts. It is fun to pick and choose things to match the friends you are visiting.

Well... speaking of gifts...

Myrna, in turn, gifted me with a most appropriate gift!
She saw a book in the store this past week and said it had "Lynne" written all over it! The title is... "Knit Two"! How perfect is that? clap It is a sequel to a book that I had just found out about last week as well - "A Friday Night Knitting Club". My library has it in, and I just reserved it over the internet, so hopefully I can pick it up sometime soon and read that one first. thumbup

So... the hostess gave a guest gift too! luv
