should I cut off the runners? This was the first season for me. What should I do with them for the winter?

Put some pots under the runners and let them grow tiny strawberry plants. When they are big enough, cut them off the runner and take them indoors.

I thought I read or heard somewhere to cut off the runners if the mother plant isn't spent. Maybe I made that up. Do you mean to actually plant them in pots?
