I am just dabbling in this jewelry making - I still have so much to learn.
I was with Liz on Monday for 3 hours while she sold her beaded goods at the local community college. She was there from 10 til 5 however. She did so well that first day of the sale - had 3 tables set up with showcases, and made out very very well. She was also making "while you wait" "you design" bracelets or earrings for $10. Because she works at Michael's, she gets her employee discount on top of using coupons, so most of what she sold at the college was profit. Her husband even got into helping her make necklaces, and when I saw her at the store on Tuesday, she had a list of things that he wanted her to bring home for him to make more for selling on Thursday at the college!
That would not be the case for me, though I wouldn't mind trying to sell sometime. I need to find a small venue where I could start out small - I could not make over 200 pieces in one weekend like Liz did to prepare for her sale this week!!! Too bad there is already a young woman in Don's office who sells beaded jewelry near holiday times. She is very good, and I would never compete with her anyway - it wouldn't be nice or right.
People have mentioned Etsy to me - Liz especially - but I do not want to have to bother with postage, and collecting payments over the internet. So I will keep my ears and eyes open for any local opportunities and see what happens.
In the meantime, it gives me great satisfaction to be able to make gifts for my friends and family. Diane... I am thrilled that you like your gifts! Wear them well!
Everyone else - all your kind comments are icing on the cake! Thanks so much!
You should just make some items and put them aside and save them all up for a festival of some sort....maybe some knitted items too. I think it would be wonderful. Does your town have any sort of small festivals in the spring/summer/fall? I bet they do! Anywhere that you can rent a table space would be wonderful. That first necklace I would've absolutely bought from a craft table.
Thanks Sheri,, I've decided to take the jewelry sets with me to work so On my lunch break I'll go shopping to see if I can find a new Blouse that will go with one of the sets,,,, ( thanks Lynne I needed an excuse to shop ) The black sweater will be great with either,, But I want to find something black that's lighter in weight ,, it will be 70 Friday,, wellllllll suppose to be anyway,, there are a lot of boutiques close to my job in a shopping strip, so hopefully I'll have enough time to find something before tomorrow,,

That is nice to see you go shopping......I am so glad you will shine that day. You are a pretty dresser .........I seen cedar hill photos...... Look out Dwight ..........
I went to Ross's On my Lunch break and found a three quarter length sleeve black Liz Claiborne light weight sweater for 8 $, Wore it with a pair of dress slacks and the ceramic necklace set,, I got a lot of compliments on the necklace they were surprised they were hand made from a friend, and asked if My friend is taking orders! Thanks Lynne again! They looked really nice with the sweater!

I'm so glad you found just the right sweater, and that price was terrific! I miss Ross stores - we had one when I lived in Reno and I got lots of stuff there - for Brian when he was a baby too!
I'm glad your co-workers liked the ceramic set - I like the fact that they are different from most beaded sets, and thought you would too.
