When i was making this for kids, i skipped th booze altogether. I would often spread the cake with some jam but my kids said to stop, it didn't need it.

I have never ordered from Starbucks. I looked at the prices once, though. And i took a sip of my older daughter's frozen something.
Quoted my self because this sounded rude. And I didn't mean to be rude. I'm sorry. I just don't like iced coffees. And I hate the prices that the coffee houses charge for any of it when I can do it so much less expensive at home. I got a gift certificate for Starbuck's last year and sent it to a friend I thought could use it.

It didn't sound rude Tina. It is crazy expensive. We don't have it very often. We don't get out and do a lot during the week and Brennan gets bored. So, just to have something to do every now and then we'll go get something from Starbucks. You'll love this. Brennan had a latte once when Mommy came to visit. He was wired out of his head for hours. I mean crazy wired up! After that I vowed no more coffee for him from Starbucks. So I've been pulling a trick on him. I order a 'caramel creme' for him. He thinks he is having a big manly cup of coffee. But, it's actually steamed milk with caramel mixed in and whipped cream on top. I've been doing it over a year and he still hasn't caught on.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
I was here about an hour ago but my computer wouldn't let me post anything. So I did a reboot & now it seems to be working fine.
We are having quite a snowstorm today. It is expected to get bad out there & I'm grateful we have no place to go.
Maxi is still wrapped up snuggly in Dreamland, so I am tippy-toeing around here. Even the birdies are quietly watching the storm.

Maxi woke up and we decided to make an elaborate breakfast.
I am making home fries and eggs. Maxi is making bacon & fresh rolls in the oven. We have fresh fruit salad leftover from what we made yesterday.
It will be delicious! Y'all are welcome to have some!

We are getting squashed by two storm systems... one coming at us from the Great Lakes; the other up the coast from New Jersey. So, they are predicting 12 inches by tonight!
Don't know where everyone is today... I've been posting to myself for hours!

Oh, Merme. I slept in. Am I too late for breakfast? I sounds delicious. I have no particular plans today. But I'm sure life will throw me something to do. I hope I can finish off some coffee before it does.

You are never too late for breakfast around here, Tina. We got carried away cooking today, so there is plenty to share.
So pour yourself a hot one and visit for a while.
The plows are here.
Maxi finished crochetting the bulky yarn hat he was making, and I sewed up the back seam for him. Since he hadn't decided what he was making when he got started and since he had a hard time discovering where the edges were until I marked them for him, the hat has a very -- shall we say UNUSUAL? -- shape & texture. But it is adorable on him and very cozy warm.

That sounds awesome. Yes, hats are much more quickly done than scarves. I have decided I need to get out the shop vac and really get into a room that is driving me nuts. But I need to run to a store too for some items. After I wake, I will decide which to do first.

I'm just cleaning and washing today. boy, these dirty cloths do pile up. what a huge breakfast you and maxi made, merme. I'd join you, but we had a huge breakfast ourselves. homemade biscuits, gravy, sausage, honey. yum. I doubt any of us will be ready for lunch any time soon.

we were just wondering about you the other day. where the heck have you been? gravy is easy, emde. just add some flour to a bit of grease/oil. cook it some, then add water or milk. and some salt and pepper.

Well, if I were to make gravy, I would put about 3 tablespoons of flour in a cup and add a titch of hot water & stir it with a fork. I'd keep adding hot water a dab at a time until all the flour was smooth and runny and free of lumps, stirring and stirring with the fork. Then, when it was ready, I'd turn the heat up under the drippings I was going to use for flavor, and then I'd pour the flour/water mix into the center of the pan once it started to boil. Then I'd stir like crazy! For a white gravy, I'd add milk after the flour/water mix was incorporated.
Enrique, I've been asking and asking about you... wondering where you were! I thought I just kept missing you; that you'd been here when I wasn't. I'm glad you are back!

Thorny needs to start a new tracking map for this year. I've got hummers all year long here though. Some fly south and for some northern ones I AM south. And I haven't a clue as to which id which kind. Some have. I have gotten a start on my day. Just sat to have a sip of my coffee. So nice to see you Enrique. I'm glad that it was an relatively easy fix for your computer although expensive. It is nice to have you back.

I think Thorny started the first one we had, and I've done them the past few years because it really interests me. I'll start one again soon unless Thorny does it.
I'd like a cheeseburger & fries from Mom's, too, Miss Loz! Email us some, won't you?
It's still snowing very hard here, too.
I laid down for a power nap and now I feel GREAT! I'm all recovered from yesterday's trials & tribulations!!

Well, no cheeseburgers for me. I had to make do with a meatball sub from Subway. I got a few of the needed items. I'll need to get my coffee elsewhere tomorrow and I will be all set to go. I do wish I had more time and energy to get it all done at once, though.

It's cold and rainy here today so I made a pot of vegetable beef soup. It's good for a cold day.
I can't believe what Starbucks cost but I spend money on other stuff that I'm sure people can't believe. My daughter drinks Starbucks all the time. I put a gift certificate in her Christmas stocking.
I am very tired today. I've stayed up very late over the weekend. I just sent the neighbor kid home and mine are coming in. it's time for sweat pants and some relaxing.

I've got to go babysit tonight at 7:30. I could kick myself for saying I'd do it. My daughter and her husband want to go eat with friends after church and she asked me to come to her house instead of bringing the chilren to mine That means I'll be driving home at 1:00 AM. Hope this rain doesn't freeze. I'm not doing this anymore.
Oh, sheri! that does not sound like fun. I believe I would have said a big fat NO on that one. If they're just going to eat, why would they not be home till 1?

Maxi & I made chicken w/ rice for dinner, flavored w/ cream of mushroom soup. It was very good on this very snowy day and it was most excellent to have the oven on for so long as well.
Man, I love rice! It's unnatural, I'm telling ya.
Tomorrow we will be turning the leftovers into soup and adding lots of vegetables.
I'm nearly finished with the star pillow.
I'm glad Maxi is here until Tuesday night. If his dad wanted to come for him today, he'd have to come by dog sled.
