Good morning. I'm still working on my first cup. And getting fires rekindled. They burned low last night.

Our incoming bad weather is supposed to be just a foot of snow. I've heard that they've had ice further south of us, though. I'm hoping we avoid the ice because it is so destructive & is what typically shuts down the power. Snow we can manage okay.

I'm sorry to hear of your ice!

My girl called off again today... after taking all of last week off! So the supervisor came and filled in for her again. She said they are going to have to get someone more reliable for my case because this girl calls off more often than she shows up. She is a nice person and works hard when she is here & I hate to lose her, but I need someone who is also reliable.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Is she young or older with children maybe? Sounds like she has a situation that she needs to take care of before taking a full time job. I'm glad her supervisor was able to fill in. Are these workers nurses or nursing assistants or what?

Morning all,
It is cold again today- -6* right now.... I was up early but not cause I wanted to be-- just could not sleep very well... Carrie brought me the boys to feed while she took Joseph to school... so fed them pancakes and eggs.. orange juice- now I need to make a new batch of pancakes and waffles to last the next couple of weeks for them... they are getting so much bigger takes more to fill them up now.
I really need to do some house cleaning today- vacuuming and such... but think I will try to take a nap first... am not really ready to be awake right now....
Have a good day all.... back later when I wake up a little more.

Hi and bye Nana! See you when you get up next time!

Sheri ~ my girls are certified at a higher level than a CNA but they are not nurses. The one I have now is in her early 40's, divorced, with two kids around Maxi's age.

Something stupid is going on with my computer today. Every time I post I get thrown off not just this site, but my home page closes as well & then reopens. I'm going to reboot. See you all later!

HEY! I just made a really terrific tuna salad sandwich w/ lettuce on toast. I'm all out of tomatoes. But I've got plenty if anyone is hungry for some tasty lunch and doesn't mind visiting Maine to get it!! lol

Bring your boots 'coz we have snow on the way.

I use whichever I have on hand, Sheri! Today was sweet pickles. Last time was dill.

Carol Jean, I always have enough for you! Shall I have someone make sure the path to my front door is clear so you can get in?

lol

Sorry I was gone for a while. I've been having trouble w/ the computer all morning and then realized I was having problems because of lack of disc space, so I just used the clean up tool and hopefully things will be running smoother now.

My girl's supervisor came back this afternoon to run some errands for me before the storm hits, just in case no one can come tomorrow morning before I leave. We had to wait until a deposit cleared my account to make sure I was funded. It was really nice of her to come back like that! She was hoping I'd go with her so we could run around town together as a nice outing for me, but I have other appointments today both here at the house & via the phone that I can't miss. Too bad... I would have liked the chance to run away for a bit!

Sorry too that you could not have your outing--perhaps another time will work out for you---

will she get your needed items for you then??-

Hello, I am back. Tests came out good today and we got both today's and tomorrow's visits in all in one day. So I should be able to go to work tomorrow after I take Ted to school. I hope the chill moves out before the new day begins though.
We all ate lunch and now a nap is sounding really good.

Hi Tina.

Yes, Carol. The supervisor ran to the pharmacy and the grocery for me. So I am all set if no one can come tomorrow before I go to dialysis.

A nice thing is she told me about two specials our store was having for meat & chicken so I was able to take advantage of the savings & get extra things I hadn't planned on.

She also bought me some Ruby Red Grapefruit. I hate spending 95 cents a piece for them, but I love them so much! We didn't buy many, but I am happy.

Hey everybody. I spoke to Mommy a little while ago. Her phone and internet are out right now. She borrowed somebody's phone to call me. All is well here and there with her. We have a ton of snow and ice now. I don't think it's started doing anything where she is yet.

Thanks, Rachel! I've been wondering about your mom today.

My last appointment for the day just ended. I am looking forward to some dinner, a shower, a chat with my son on the phone, and then an easy evening. I seem to have been pushing myself hard lately & feel the need of some down time.

slow down time sounds nice to me too, merme.
that is what is on my agenda for this evening.
I've already started supper and laundry. I want to get every thing done and over with early so I can rest some before bed.
I am still having trouble with my one arm. I can't pick up anything over about a pound, or squeeze anything, or twist my wrist, without pain. I guess I pulled a muscle or two last week. it has been hurting since last thr. I've never had a pulled muscle hurt so long, but I haven't been able to take it easy on it much either.
I'm throwing some chicken in the oven with some cream of mushroom and chick. broth. just gotta figure out a side dish or two???

mmmm....potatoes do sound good. so does the rice.
I may either do the rice or some frozen carrots. I'm too tired to peel a potatoe. ha ha
my computer is slow slow today. I've already shut her down twice. I'm gonna shut down one more time then run some clean ups and such.

I never peel potatoes. Not raw anyway. I scrub and bake. Or boil then peel. My hands will not handle a peeler anymore. I make smashed potatoes with the skins on. I prefer it that way myself. My daughter, not so much.

Cricket ~ I often put the uncooked rice into the pot w/ the chicken pieces and cream of mushroom soup & let it all bake together with a foil cover.

We love potatoes around here, any way we can get them, although I have to severely limit them now because of dialysis. I do not mind peeling them & Maxi actually still enjoys it.

I am planning on making mashed potatoes this weekend to serve under the chili I am dreaming of already!!

lol

Gotta dig out the crock pot.

I like to do chicken that way too, merme---I sometimers add dry onion soup to the cream of mushroom soup & rice as well----

I like it with pork chops too.

about the peeling of potatoes. if I am having company I might peel potatoes for mashed--or half of them---but if it is just me & DH---I wash & cook the peels---more potato and healthier too that way. I even do fried or boiled ones that way too.

I'm back, for just a bit. the cleaning and defragging seemed to do the trick. my computer is back up and running well.
my kids finally learned to eat fried potatoes with the skin, but not chopped and baked or mashed yet.
I found a box of stuffing in the pantry that you just add water to. I added the chicken drippings with the cream of mushroom instead. it turned out pretty good.

Carol ~ when I do pork chops for company I like to layer them in my big roaster.

Pork chops on the bottom.
A layer of sliced potatoes.
A layer of thinly sliced onions & mushrooms.
A layer of cheese.
A second layer of pork chops.

If I am having LOTS of company, I will do a second layer of everything and have a last layer of pork chops as the top layer.... making three layers of pork chops altogether.
