We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Well Maxi just left and won't be back til Friday. But the good thing is, Winter Break begins Friday so we'll have the whole week plus two weekends together & our Mardi Gras party in there somewhere.

We had fun today watching a James Bond marathon. We always talk up a storm during movies and have the best time.

i know you will miss him, but it will be good for you to have the "rest" time before he's there for a full week. and the full week will be wonderful. i know it will.

Today I taught Maxi how to latch hook & he is working on a pillow (or wall hanging) with an American Flag motif. If he turns it into a pillow, it will go nicely with the three red pillows I made for him. Finished size is 12 x 12 so not too big for a first try.

And you are right, Jiffy.... I am going to need to rest up a bit for his extended stay.

geez louise, where IS everyone today? why

I made scrambled eggs to go with the leftover dinner rolls & coffee I wanted for my dinner. I set one of the pans on a greasy burner & the smoke set off the alarm... flapping a towel, open front door, sigh.

Why is it that sometimes the most simple food is the best?!

You reminded me. I need to buy a new smoke alarm. I had one die lately. We burn wood for heat and I really feel I need them.
I used to have a couple of CO2 alarms. But my friend stuck them in his enclosed garage with his diesel truck running and they never went off. After an hour or so of killer smoke and carbons.

I'm glad you mentioned that. The gang next door was burning stuff yesterday and the wind was blowing like a gale storm. We need new batteries.

We have a very small apt but there are 5 smoke alarms in here & they are wired w/ batteries. One is the Master alarm and if something goes wrong with the system the Master goes off, which triggers all the others. YIKES! yikes you have never heard such a racket in a little place! We also have sprinklers inside.

It is good to be as alert to fire as a person can be.

One time our fire alarm was wired in with the electric. It went off one night and the wires had to be disconnected. If I had been there by myself I would have been in trouble.

Hi all,
I ended up with company this afternoon - oldest daughter, her hubby and son and his girlfriend came over-- was nice cause I had my sil figure out why I couldn't get my laptop to share with the new puter to print... had a setting wrong and I never would have found it-- now it works yay!
It started snowing a little as they were leaving so we may get a little tonit... only 36* right now,BRRRRR.....
My kids all did latch work pillows when they were younger, they all made at least one thing -- used to have a wall hanging my Mom did... but it hung on the wall that my bathroom shower was on the opposite side of and when the city sewer backed up into our house that wall soaked up the (nasty ) water and I had to get rid of it- city was working on lines and someone put a pump in the wrong place or something and backed about 5 houses up with their mistake- cost them big bucks to replace out bathroom- bedroom carpet, hall wall.... and that wall hanging.... but at least they admitted it was them that did it.... we also had to live in a hotel for a week till they removed all the ruined stuff... kids liked that part especially.
Well off to make us some dinner.... eating late tonight.

I'm glad you had unexpected company today, Sherri. And that SIL figured out the computer glitch!

Mine is running so MUCH better since I emptied it of junk.

As much as these alarms can be a pain in the neck, I am glad to have them. That fire we had when Maxi was an infant was in an apt with defective alarms. The baby & I were sleeping in the back of the apt & though I smelled the smoke it became a part of my dream. Maxi's dad was in the front of the apt & the fire was between us. His yelling at the top of his lungs is what woke me up. I wouldn't want to live through something like that again. So I'm glad for the alarms.

Night Merme, sleep well...
I had a steam fresh meal for dinner- they aren't bad and helps me eat my veggies....
I was really happy my SIL could figure out my puter- he works for Microsoft so he should know how to fix stuff- he wanted to put IE 7 on my new puter but I told him later .... they were so good already gave me Microsoft Office for Christmas...
I need to get a new CO2 alarm for my family room where my fireplace it-- I have 2 wired in smoke alarms with battery backups ... and a smoke alarm in every bedroom too-- Joe is very good about changing the batteries in all of them twice a yr... there was a whole family killed here in the mountains a couple months ago by a carbon monoxide leak from a malfunctioning heater... was really sad... there is always a couple of those every year it seems...
Well I am heading up to bed early tonit too- I don't have boys tomorrow - Jon is home with what Carrie had so he is keeping them...she has to work though.

So I was just reading an email from my daughter (17) and she has a signature line in her email that says:
"when life gives you lemons, throw them back and demand rum!"
I am laughing here.

I love a girl with an attitude thumbup

Merme, I know what you mean. A few weeks ago I posted to myself all day long.

I am at work. This is a good job. So much better than where I worked before. Did I tell you guys that even my chiropractor noticed something had changed. He asked if I had been on vacation because my neck adjusted so much easier.

Friday when I had lunch with Darbi at her school one of the volunteers asked me about a co-worker I had at the HD. (the volunteer is a dental hygienist) She told me that she's worried about my former co-worker because when she comes to the dentist she is so stressed her jaw is clenched. She said she wishes she could get another job.

If I could just take a whip and straighten out these parents it'd be the perfect place.

I would have greeted everyone good morning an hour ago but would have only been greeting myself. So good morning all. My kids are out of school for Lincoln's birthday today. So Jonni will watch Ted for me while I run John to the hospital for his pet scan. After which he will be radioactive and glow in the dark and need to stay away from pregnant women and small children.
I'm not sure about what the rest of my day will entail. Probably getting the kids school stuff ready for Valentine's day. Both are partying at school during this week. Jonni with her special ed classes where she is a teacher's aide for a couple of periods and for her preschool teaching classes. And Ted in his special ed classes where he is a student. It sure can keep a mother busy.

Fortunately, Afgrey-silly-parrot, the sprinklers only go off based on HEAT not on smoke! They react to the hot part of fire; not the smoke part.

So now you know you can visit me and won't have to sit under a plastic tarpulin!

I hope Johnny likes the new arrangement, Sheri.

Warmed blankets are only available at the hospital, Sheri, not the outpatient units. For outpatient, each person is given a large bag w/ information and a blanket inside. This is to keep. So... people carry their blanket(s) back and forth.

John gets warmed blankets in the chemo suites and in the infusion center. I'm thinking that that is depending on where you go, Merme.
I will be eager to see the results of his pet scan today.
I came home and took a very hard nap today. But I don't think I will have any trouble sleeping tonight.
