Good morning everyone ~

We have beautiful sunshine here on the coast today. It is streaming through the sliding glass doors making Maxi's parakeets very happy!

I have a busy day but I'll be back after dinner.

I hope everybody has a great day!

I've been up for a couple of hours. another day off today! boy, I could get used to this. I planned on staying up late last night since I have the day off, but was in bed before 9. I planned on going back to bed after I got the kids off to school but was up before they were. I have so many things I want to do today. I'm trying to get organized and figure out what to do first before I start 5 projects at the same time and not get any of them finished.
more coffee....more coffee....more coffee.

Nana, I'm impressed with the deals you got. you are very organized and committed. what a great idea putting your savings into an acct for vacation.

I've decided to get some carpet shampooing done this morning while I'm the only one here. that's a start.

Cricket I hate days when I think of 50 million things I'd like to do and can't decide where to start! At least you've picked carpet cleaning though I must admit I wouldn't want that activity high on my "to do" list for my day off! lol

I agree with you also.... Nana is remarkably organized. I admire her greatly!

the carpet cleaning wasn't as industrious as you think. I only cleaned half of the living room carpet. mainly the 'run way' between the front door and the kitchen. one of these days we're gonna rip up that section of carpet and replace with tile. there is just too much traffic there for carpet.

ok, next project.....take a break!

Sun shine here this morning I got up and planted 24 cups of tomato plants, dropped 3-5 seeds in each one, I think I have some of every kind of tomato I had in my box planted. I can't want til spring.

Yesterday I got out and cleaned up 2 flower beds and clipped the canna tops off. Maybe when it warms today I'll do the stalks on my hibiscus.

Morning ,
Was up early- braved an icy driveway to go get the paper today- must have rained before it snowed last night .. and they didn't sand the streets... dangerous out there... I slid aways down the driveway too- but didn't fall - good thing for me.
Cricket your reminded me I need to get the carpet machine from Carrie this weekend- need to do my living room carpet this weekend... and maybe the stairs down to the family room too...there is a Mr Nobody that keeps spilling stuff and not mentioning it to me...... and I figure if I didn't watch what I bought and spent the money or if I didn't take the time to clip and orgainize the coupons it would be gone too... so I make it gone where it will at least gain a little intrest and pay for time away for us...without really being missed.
Well I have the boys now and they need some breakfast... thinking eggs and waffles .... think I might have some ham in the freezer too.
Nana

Hi Belinda. Nice to see you. Your ice storm pictures are something else.

I just bought a peanut bar out of the candy machine (that's what I get for not bringing lunch) and it doesn't have the nutrition information on it. It's made by Lance. I thought it was a law. So now that I don't know the calories I can eat it with a smile on my face.

I had a nice lunch, cooked a hamburger pototes (boiled with cheese) and green peas. If i have my burger like that I can skip the bread and not miss it.
Been outside cleaning again

should I cut back my mums or leave them as they are?

I don't know a thing about mums. I had them one winter and they never came back. I'm pretty sure they were supposed to.

well, my productive day has slowed to a stop. I woke up with all kinds of plans. after the carpet shampooing I decided to watch the beginning of 'The Bucket List' and ice my elbow. I saw the middle and end of that movie the other night. after that, I ate lunch and have just been lazily pacing. I haven't even gotten a shower yet. UGH!

I can't seem to get a visual on "hamburger pototes (boiled with cheese) and green peas"????

I think before this I mowed mine down and weeded them out, but last year I marked mine with a stick and this past year I had mums, this year I'll mark them again. I've been marking alot of stuff because i'm bad to weed it for weeds

Oh I love it, just fry the hamburger, then for 2 side dishes, boil the potatoes add cheese on top of those and heat a can of peas...sort of like a plate lunch, just no bread

Awwww....... lol I was thinking the potatoes and cheese and peas were somehow mixed in with the burger?

I'm headed outside for a bit to get something or another accomplished. first stop is to my hybiscus. from my bathroom window it looks like the sucker has two blooms on it....and no leaves yet? touched

not only does it have 2 blooms but 15-20 buds, as well. I don't know if you can tell by the pics, but here's a look.

ok, I spent two hours in photobucket trying to get 4-5 pic's loaded and I'm talking to myself!
....time to go busy myself while waiting on you fine people to get home from work, relax, and get on the G.H.
In addition to the ones above, I posted a couple of pic's in the banter hall, 'what it looks like here'. and I started a hat thread. I believe merme has finally agreed to post a pic or two of herself with a hat!
I also took a pic of my seedlings but got out of photobucket before I realized I hadn't posted that pic. maybe another day..... I'm photobucketed out for a while. my poor old computer just can't hang.

cricket, that doesn't look like a hibiscus. it looks like a tulip magnolia aka japanese tulip tree. if it is, it is the right time for them to bud out and bloom. and they do bloom before they leaf out.

what ever it is, it's pretty grin

well, you know jiffy. I got this plant/bush from a friend that TOLD me it was a hybiscus. I never really thought it looked like a hybiscus either, but when I google hybiscus there were SO many varieties I'd get tired of looking at them before I found MINE.
What ever it is, the only blooms I get is before it leafs out. and I've never had more than 2 blooms in the spring. this bush was on my list to either move to another location or dig up and feed to the compost this year, cause it never really did anything.
I'm gonna look up tulip magnolia and japanese tulip tree!
thanks alot, jiff!

I also think it is more magnolia-like than hibiscus-like. The petals look much more waxy than any hibiscus I have seen.

if it is a tulip tree, it can grow quite large in the right conditions. think magnolia with branches.

Yep...Japanese Magnolia. You can find them all over the place around here. They don't get very big though, from the ones I have seen. Around here what we call "tulip trees" are actuall yellow poplars! LOL Common names can be so confusing sometimes! touched

BTW...Hi, everyone! wavy

Annette

Oh, and suzydays? If you snip the mums back, they will fill out more. I usually keep cutting mine back until about August/September, and they are so bushy and full of flowers, it's not even funny.

Hi everybody ~

Annette it is nice to see you on.

I'm sorry but I can't play tonight. I am not feeling very well at all & haven't yet bounced back from my treatment today. So I am bowing out for tonight but I hope to be on tomorrow with photos galore for y'all to chuckle over.

Safe away home O my palies and sweet dreams to you all.

oh, I missed Merme!
yeah, annette, people here call the one Tulip Tree or Tulip Poplar, the other, Saucer Magnolia or, hehe, Tulip Tree...tulip tree is wrong in that case, though.
Cricket...I'm here 'cause I thought I might find some trouble here! hehe. Looks like you're the only trouble around tonight, though! clap

Hi everybody ~

We are having another beautiful-to-look-at day but the wind is so bitingly cold no one wants to be out in it! It's one of those "look but don't touch!" days!! lol

Maxi & I were up til almost 4 AM. He was having a rough night and didn't fall asleep well until after 3. It took me a while to settle after that!

I hope y'all have a great day!

It was mental. Worries can seem magnified, as well as fears, in the late watches of the night. Once I realized what was going on, I had him lie back down & I spoke to him based on Psalm 121, which he found very reassuring & then was able to drift off into a good sleep. Sometimes we just need reminded of all that is well... the house is warm, the bed is cozy, mom is here, God is watching out for us...

Oh I forgot. Today I am going to teach him how to play "Jambalya" on the guitar so we can do it for the party a week from tomorrow. It is a very easy song & I think he'll be proud to play it for everyone. Plus it is so fun to sing. "goodbye Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh..."

hhhmmm.....turns out the theme from the pink panther is too advanced for him right now. there are notes below the staff he hasn't learned yet???
oh well, for now I'll just enjoy 'we will rock you'.

I've transplanted the rest of the seedling that needed bumping up. and planted some more seeds. what to do now????....dishes, laundry...??? I don't think so!
