When we bought this house (March will be 10 years ago) one of the things that caught my eye and heart was all the clover growing all over not just my yard but all the yards in the neighborhood. It was so lovely since they were all in clover bloom. Some were in whit little clover flowers, some lavender and some like mine in pink. And it was the type of clover that really caught my eye because I personally had not seen this type before. It all looked as if it had little drops of blood stain on each petal. The first 2 photos are of the basic heart shaped clover that covers half of my yard.
this photo is of the clover with the dots.
I will try and remember to get photos of the yards when they are in bloom.
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.

I like clover but I hope it's not where you're planting your garden. Around here it's hard to get rid of.

Well have to say it is. It is just filler in between things. The whole neighborhood is covered in the stuff and silver dollars. One can cut and dig, dig and cut but there is no getting rid of the stuff even if you wanted but most everyone here likes the stuff.

Memosa...the first pic is actually sweet sorrel, not clover, and I don't think it's invasive, BUT, it's edible, it has a nice tart flavor. The flower buds in particular are delicious, and all parts make a great addition to salad. Lucky you! I wish I had it growing here. The clover is great for adding nitrogen to a veggie garden. I plan to sow seed for it next fall in my garden and mow it next spring, then turn it into the soil. Keep an eye out for 4 leaf clovers, lol!

Pep, wish that you could come here and I could give you some, no make that all you could want to haul back home!!! And yes I have been looking for 4 leaf ones in my yard and everyone elses since the day I moved here March 2, 1999 and only found my first one a few weeks ago. I was so happy that I didn't actually pick it but dug it up and planted in the back of my little gnomes wagon.

How beautiful! I always buy a little container of those right around now (before St. Patrick's Day) & by the beginning of the summer, they're just about dead. It's frustrating, not to mention a waste of $$.

I'm a sucker for clover too . . . I once grew a whole pot of it, then published an article with a photo on the project. http://www.thingsmagazine.net/text/t17/clover.htm

Some people actually sprinkle clover seed into their grass instead of grass seed - they say it makes a thicker turf.
