Carol ~ the above post was for Jiffy because she said she had enjoyed Sue Grafton. You had said you hadn't cared much for her books....

Merme, I'm going to suggest that for my book club. I love biographies. The life of Mary Todd is more interesting than people that people ever realized. Our group has one lady who only wants to read fluff so every other month we read silly stuff. So we won't be able to read it for a while.

Sheri ~ the particular book about Marie Antoinette which I read was "The Queen's Confession" by Victoria Holt. It was quite well done & she was able, extraordinarily enough, to make Marie Antoinette a sympathetic character. Lots of potential topics for discussion with that book... Maxi & I enjoyed yakking about it.

Tomorrow morning I'm leaving to drive to Philadelphia, so I decided to swing by the library after my hair cut and borrow a book on cd. I like to listen to books while I drive. I am not very familiar with authors...tho I did recognize John Grishom and there were a ton of his books available on cd. I decided I wanted something suspenseful and somewhat mysterious, so I borrowed Lost Souls by Lisa Jackson. I'm on disc 3 of 12 and it is pretty good so far. So far the story has described the main characters, the location, the history or background of the characters, and has gotten in to some of the plot. Can't wait to hear what happens next tomorrow morning as I travel!

I like listening to books while I drive. My daughter lives 5 hours a way and I try to get me a CD or two to take. Last time I listened to the Mayflower. It was good. It took all the way there and back to get it finished.

dodge, when Johnny and I are in the car we never turn on the radio either. I usually don't listen when I'm alone either, except on an all Elvis Sunday when I'm driving to my daughters and I don't have a book on tape.

a lot of people who get into my car can't believe I don't turn on the radio. I prefer the quiet usually and my husband does too.

in our car we had before this one, the radio was broken--so now I have to think about it I want the radio on...so used to it not working.....I usually listen to a CD when I do have "sound on"--I realally need to get some books on tape that would be a great use of the driving time.

I meant books that are written along the same lines of Agatha Christie or Rex Stout

But again thanks rose

Dodge~ yes, I was driving alone....tho, we do put the radio on if Stephen and I are together also. We only ever listen to the local Christian radio station here and if we are chatting, we just turn the music down. The kids like to also listen to the music.

Sheri~ when I was in 6th grade, I memorized the entire book of James....VERY good book if your going to memorize one...and only 5 chapters long. I call that one the "Instruction Manual for Life"...I remember alot of it to this day, tho I just told Stephen a couple of weeks ago that I'd like to re-memorize it.

I'm on disc 6 of the book now. I couldn't get the cd player to work correctly the entire drive down to Philadelphia...SOOOO annoying! I had to constantly flip to find a decent radio station for the entire drive. Then this morning when I left, I realized that the cd player was set to random. rolz So I got through 2 discs on the way home. Can you imagine that "duh" moment!? lol I felt like such an idiot....but good thing nobody else was there to see my reaction!!! haha

Great flower show, btw. I'm uploading pictures right now as I type... tho they are going SOOOOOOO slow and I am praying that they don't all error out (I HATE when that happens!!!)

I like memorizing the Bible, might come in handy sometime. I agree about James Jenn. I think Proverbs and James are the books that we can live by today.

The day before I went to my daughters the last time I had taken my car to be worked on. I didn't realize until I was on the road that they had disconnected the radio and CD player. I finally pulled over at a gas station, called the Honda place, lifted the hood and through their instructions fixed it myself.

I have a Tom Clancy novel underway... The Sum of All Fears. It is as good as Clancy gets.

Next I am going to read the Ken Folliet novel about building a 14th Century Cathedral.

Sheri I think it was. Several other Clancy novels were made into films.... The Hunt For Red October; Patriot Games; Clear & Present Danger; Red Storm Rising that I can think of right now.
