I thoroughly stink at starting seeds. To this day I have not had one single seed live. I would love to be able to start plants from seed early...but I am just horrible at it.

It is a bit tricky if you forget them for 1 day in the hot sun, they are gonners.
Even a few hours in the hot dry sun outside will kill .
They have to be hardened off if started indoors and transplanted outdoors.

By that we mean putting them out in the sun/wind for say half hour, then 2 hours or more to get them used to the temperatures.

Not always fun and games......

I guess I'm ok at starting seeds (there was a while when I insisted on trying to sprout every seed that was from the tropical fruits that we ate) The only problem that I have is no enough light. They grow tall and spindly, too leggy. I usually end up just throwing the whole container away :S

I was recently at the mall and I saw some $9.99 garden bulbs (so $10 for cannas, dahlias, liatris, etc.) There wwas also bleeding hearts and peonies (about $2 each) which I though was kinda of interesting as right beside these bulbs were another disp[ly selling named cultivars for about 10x as much! The $10 ones weren't named cultivars but that didn't bug me. The only thing that bugged me was not knowing what colour they would bloom. I'm hoping to keep buying to a minimum this year and start most things rom seed...that is if I'm allowed to put the seedlings in front of the window in the living room

Helping the world one seed at a time

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

Kenny

I am sure it is hard to keep up plants when your at school and no light.
Someday you will own a nice place and will really know how to fix it up with the plants an trees...
We swap lots here, cheaper than buying......That is why I am on the forums.
I never knew how to start flower seeds , let along pick the.
Now I do .

Keep thy faith.
