That makes the most sense Thorny and thankyou for sharing your experience with me. It wasn't the turkey vulture. Those I see quite often. I'll have to get binoculars so I can see with more detail.

It's the female cardinal that is brown with a red stripe on the bottom of her wind and a really bright redish orange beak right?

Shes funny. She'll get on the bird feeder and feed while her husband is down below on the ground.

Of course you know my being on crutches is all your fault. I went out to refill the bird feeder and fell. Twisted my ankle something fierce. I hope they find the cup of seeds that I left on the ground as I crawled back into the house.

That's the female alright! Here's a picture of one of MY female Cardinals posing for me, trying to be all sexy and Pam Anderson-like.

Diane - doesn't the world look different to you now that you are noticing all the different types of birds??? People think I'm nutso when I stop to try and find a bird that I am hearing but can't see. It's just so fascinating watching all that Mother Nature has to offer us, isn't it?

Beautiful beautiful cardinal and woodpeckers........
Isnt our world lots nice since we met Ole Thorn and his birds / cameras??

THanks Thorn a whole bunch.......
Yes they look at me odd too, chasing birds.. My sis in Ohio did it for years and I thought she was a nut.Ha ha who does it now??

She didnt do photos..Birds and everything else, she lived near a large park in Ohio.

I watched him for a long while. He has quite the repertoire of songs. He had his little head thrown back and was singing as loud as he could.

Working on a batch of pics right now. My Mocker was out there, but too far away for a pic. I also had Cedar Waxwings this morning but couldn't get a pic of them either.

I've got Candian Geese flying back and forth. It's like they can't make up their mind which way to go.

Those Canadian geese are not too good at finding Canada, are they?

If I see them here, I will, but then I'll know they are really lost!

i'm so excited. The vultures are back. And I saw them fly so I saw the white spots on their wings. They were so gracious as to land on the deck railing so I could get a really good look at them.

How long with they stay? I have some large nests in my trees do you think they might be theirs?

I tried throwing them a piece of meat but it scared them off.

You have to throw them ROTTEN meat. Got any two-week-dead cats?
