"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Thanks Lynne,,,,,,I love sitting on the patio and looking over to see the splash of white flowers on that fence I think the Jackmandi is Next to bloom!
The Dianthus isn't that Bright really,, For some reason when ever I take a picture with red or bright pink tones,, I can't edit it or get a true picture,, Can't figure the camera out on that one! All those colors come out TOO vivid.
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
I'm not sure what this is. It's been growing in the strawberry pot for 2 years now and this is the first time it's bloomed. The foliage stays green all year long.
as you can see, it starts out with a little purplish ball, which turns red as it grows
I haven't a clue. It is pretty and has character too. I like things that grow in leafy 'clusters' like that. I did a double take. I think it is erysimum cheiri (english wallflower).

OMG! I love that birdbath planter!!! I remember that from last year! It is so beautiful with blooming flowers in it. I hope it's blooming with something, whatever, when I get there!!!
and here is the wallflower with 3 different color flowers on the same plant.
That's a gorgeous plant, Sheri. I'll have to see if we can get them here. I haven't seen them, but I've seen a similar effect on a chilli plant. Wish I'd bought it!
I'm pretty sure I planted the wall flower from seeds so if I harvest any I'll save them. It has taken 2 years to bloom though and it's growing in a pot in partial shade.
Love all your flowers, we're still in winter mode around here, can't yet imagine flowers except for those in my house, my hoya's blooming again, seems like it just stopped.
Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
I have 3 of those pink azaleas that are in total shade. They are shaded by trees and then the edge of the garage. It amazes me each spring when they are so pretty.
azaleas like shade so much better than full sun. i have a couple that bloom just because, but they are in too much sun. i'm always shocked when they bloom.
I have some in full sun too and they bloom like they don't care. I don't like them without their flowers. They're not a pretty plant naked but they sure are easy with which to along with. Wish I could say the same about some people.
I didn't know that's what those violets are called, Sheri. My next door neighbor has a few patches of both colors in his lawn - I love when they are in bloom! Nice pictures - irises are always one of my favorites.
Diane - I LOVVVVVVVVVVVE that yellow rose - it's my favorite color in a rose, but I think I told you that last year when you posted some. And that dianthus - of COURSE someone named Diane can grow pretty dianthus!!!
Lynne, you're so clever. I had never thought about dianthus and Diane. Now we know her secret. And yellow is my favorite color too.
I didn't start those confederate violets. They are everywhere in my yard. Some of them will get huge if left alone. Wonder if I dig a few up if they'll make it to Texas and live. What do you think Diane?
Heyyyyyy Thanks Sheri,, When I mail established plants, I just scoop soil up along with the plant( so as Not to disturb the roots too much) and either put it in a zip lock(leave unzipped 1/2 way for air or usually a store grocery plastic bag tied very loose at the top,, and pack newspapers ( crumpled up) around it to secure it, Seems to work fine!
My Spoon fantasy mum is blooming again!
and the first jackmandii of 09
and these maynight salvia,, I bought last year end of season sale at lowes for I think was 25 cents or 50 cents,, They looked almost dead But took a chance on them ,, they are thanking me now!
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
LOVE that spoon mum! And all your colors - I still only have the blue scilla blooming so far, but they are filling out a bit more and are a very welcome sight.
I used to grow money plants on the rock wall at the bottom of our backyard, but ever since they built houses back there and cut down a lot of trees, I can't get them to grow again. I love both the colors of the flowers, and the silvery seed pods. When I was growing up, the woman across the street had a dried arrangement of the pods in a vase - it was so pretty, and I complimented it every time I went in the house - almost daily!
I've tried Money Plant some many times,, It just won't grow for me,,,,,,, I always get jealous when you show your pictures of them!,, They look awesome!!
I remember I got this plant last year at lowe's again at an end of season sale, It had this bloom on it when I purchased it,, and Had the name,, Don't remember the name,, But I'm thinking Primrose maybe?? But it came back I'm very surprised as I remember it saying it was an annual
I've found that a lot of stuff that says annual comes back in our warm environments.
I'm beginning to find that out Sheri!!!! Coooooooool! I really wish the violets I had last year would come back,, I've looked But no sign of them at all
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
I'm definitely going to have to get some of those lilies - known here as Alstroemeria - my neighbor had some in pots on her deck last summer and they bloomed all season long! They are not hardy here though, so I will have to shop around for a good buy on them - they can be pretty expensive.
this rose is on the opposite side of the yard as the pictures above
That's a great photo; I don't think any of my roses show those delicate veins through the petals like that one does. You've inspired me- tonight when I get home I will try and post some of my favourite roses.
Stevie_g; So sorry to hear that you have been (down) under the weather!! (BAD pun right). Anyway hope that your are feeling better soon. But since it is now Fall working towards winter where you live are the flowers still blooming or are they fading back and fall stuff coming around there?
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.
Hi Memosa, thanks, I am feeling on top of the world now! So far we still have a lot of blooms, but it is definitely cooler now, and I like that. I call it red wine weather. Also better for sleeping. We have 2 claret ash trees in our front yard, and one is dropping its leaves, while the other hasn't started yet. They do the same each year; one early, the other late- I guess they are married!
I will put in some pictures of some of my favourite flowers. Here is our Camp David rose. It has gorgeous big soft fragrant blossoms, that are dark red and sometimes have splashes of almost black.
I love this Double Delight. The scent has a touch of citrus. Probably my favourite rose of all.
And here is a white geranium that my mother in law gave me. She and I always talk gardening. I love it!
we used to have a pretty good sized dogwood tree in this location right outside my upstairs bedroom window. We electrocuted it a few times with Christmas lights then Johnny backed into it, in my car mind you, and knocked it completely down. We had a hard time finding one to plant. For some reason it's not easy to find dogwoods for sale around here and then there was the drought. We planted this 3 years ago when it was tiny. We drilled holes in a bucket and put beside it to keep it watered and now we have 1 bloom.
I am sorry to hear about the decline of your previous dogwood, Sheri. But I laughed at your description. That is a pretty clean single bloom. Dogwoods don't do well in our heat here. Do the blooms have a scent?

Your little dogwood looks very healthy Sheri. I hope it provides you with many more blooms to come in future years.
This was my first spring bulb patch to bloom other than my scillas so far. Gotta love my daffydills! These are down by the shed, and not quite open yet on Sunday when I first went out early afternoon, but I was so glad to see they were about to bloom.
By late afternoon they were in full beautiful bloom!
Loz, looks like you had great weather for an Easter egg hunt. What are those trees you photographed? The white one looks a bit like our nectarine, but on a bigger scale. Did they have a strong perfume?
Hope Bubba is keeping well, and hope your fish survived the big freeze!
Sheri, I love that tulip! We just bought some tulip bulbs for the first time this year. They are sitting in the fridge, ready to be planted in May. Should be exciting, because I've always wanted to have tulips, but never quite knew what to do with them.
Plants 'n pots, your daffodils look great in the evening light. They are such a cheerful flower. Do you have a daffodil day over there? Here, it is in August, to raise money for cancer research and support.
Sheri,, That tulip Darby gave you is sweet,,,, I love dogwood trees the flowers on them look tropical to me, Lynne the last Picture of your daff's is awesome,, you captured the golden hour in that picture
With Easter coming up This Sunday, we will be seeing a lot more members springs blooms coming up!

Stevie - I don't know if we have a certain day for daffodils, but I do know that a few years ago some organizations sold bunches of them very inexpensively to raise money for cancer research. Also, when I was in college some kids were selling them to raise money for cancer as well - that was "many moons ago!", but I still relate daffodils to cancer research. It's one of my all time favorite flowers!
Thanks Diane and Sheri - the rest of my daffodils in other areas aren't growing as well for some reason, but I have a lot of tulips about to bud up - can't wait to see those colors!
We just had Daffodil Days here....I don't think there is one specific day for it but I could very well be wrong. About 2 weeks ago they delivered our daffodils and the money went to the American Cancer Society. Always a good cause so we support it every year.
Plantqueen, sounds like daffodil days are pretty widespread, then. Plants 'n pots, I hope you will post some photos of your tulips when they bloom. Tulips are one of my favourites; must be the Dutch in me!
But I also LOVE the blue bonnets - they are sooooooo cool! Wish I could grow them there - they remind me of the lupine that grew all over Alaska - so pretty!
Thanks Stevie,,,,,,, I have no idea what variety,, When I bought the one in the front yard it said small yellow rosebush,,,,,,,,, RIGHHHHHHHHT that thing is reaching my roof! No No scent,,, Just tall,, Seems it's a rambler rose of some sort,, the one in the back yard is a climbing rose,, Sweet sent on those,,
thanks Lynne !!!
