Thank you very much for clarifying. I have been sending virtual get well gifts to Carol via kinzposts. I'm terrified i will fill up her inbox. But I will send until it won't allow to let her know I am thinking of her.

Cool, I told Jiffy to ask next she talked to Carol to see if she needed a pet sitter. But she has you and that is quite cool.
I am glad that you can be there to care for your mother. I am sorry about the circumstances that freed you for it. It may be all part of a Big Plan to reward you with something better. That is the optimist in me speaking. Always looking for silver linings.

Hi Valarie!

I'm so glad you were able to come here and update us on how your mom is doing. It's wonderful that your mom is feeling well enough to come into the kitchen to tell you how to arrange things - just like a mom! lol thumbup kissie

I'm also glad that she finally got her real diagnosis, and is on better medicine and the road to recovery. Please give her another gentle hug from me and tell her that she is in my constant thoughts.

I'm sorry that life has taken a few wrong turns for you recently, but I am very glad that you are able to take care of your mom for now. I'm sure things will turn around for you very soon - I will keep my fingers crossed for you. kissie

Oh, yeah... please check her snail mail tomorrow - there might be a little something in it for her! [Linked Image]

flwrFrom Val: flwr

My mom went to an orthopedic doctor on Tuesday. We didn't know, but they had intended to only see her about her shoulder. Due to her previous (less serious) injury, her family doctor felt it necessary for her to be seen by a more specialized doctor. While there, we mentioned the other injury - the one to her back. So they sent in yet another doctor to see her about that. The office we went to was so efficient, we saw three seperate types of doctors in aobut 3 hours.

First the doctor for the shoulder (along with his resident) examined her, took more x-rays, and determined that her break was the best it could be - not being too severe. She has very little restriction with it and will probably go to some physical therapy in about 3 or 4 weeks for it - especially since she needed the therapy before the break anyway.

Next we saw the spinal doctor (and HIS resident). They took x-rays also and determined that that break wasn't too bad either. She was given a few options and went with getting a brace and coming back in 6 weeks for another check up. Apparently this type of break just needs time to heal on its own - no surgery, nothing special. The brace was just offered to supply some needed pain relief and also provide mom with a little assurance that she wouldn't further injur herself during the day as she tries to resume her day to day life.

Finally (though we thought we'd have to come back to get a brace) in comes the brace people. One doctor, one student/resident. They fitted her with a back brace that covers the whole back and wraps around the front of her stomach. It has shoulders like a backpack and generally provides a decent amount of pain relief according to mom.

All that in about 3 hours in 1 building. yikes Can't beat it. So no surgery needed, and she was able to yell much, much more today about my cleaning so that tells me she'll be well in no time.

Again, thanks for all the well wishes for mom!
~Valarie

flwr Hello everyone !!! flwr

MY DH fixed me up with a good sturdy chair, and he has adjusted my back brace.

so I can post a thanks to everyone for all of your kind words, thoughts and prayers. This has been a very bad addition to my previous run of operations--but oh well, I guess God will not bring me "to", what he cannot bring me "through"

I also want to tell everyone---I was in the middle of sending out a few spring packages when all of this happened with me. I had only gotten the ones to Diane, Loz & Cindy sent out. I am hopong when I get to feeling better soon I will be able to direct Valarie to begin sending the others out.

I am apologizing for the delay but hope it is understood.

Carol - I am so thrilled that you were able to see all those doctors in one place, and that they were able to give you a back brace and proper care. The fact that you can now sit in a chair with the brace on and join us here is icing on the cake!

I hope you continue to heal well, and in a timely fashion, so you can get on with things you enjoy doing.

I have a few more updates:

Today my primary care Dr's nurse called me--she wanted to ask about how my visit with the shoulder specialest went---reason being that the hospital that took the initial x-rays of my shoulder sent a written report to my Dr saying that my arm was fine and there was no problem-- yikes--So I told her in detail what the specilest said and then also told her about the other drs.

Then a few hours later another of the same Drs nurses called & told me that I need to return in 3 weeks for another chest x-ray, because of how that report came back from the same hospital--- why

I have an appointment with my primary care Dr. on the 20th, because I will be done with my antibiotic for the pneumonia--so we shall see what he says then.

Still hurting much and not sleeping too well but hopefully both will improve with time. Thank You for all of your prayers.

well ya know Barb when the ambulance came for me on April 1st I tried to get them to take me to the hospital in St. Louis where all the drs, that are taking care of me now, are on staff---and they would not---all any of this did was reinforce my decision to only use Drs from one certain place in St Louis.

The good news is my primary care Dr., who is local, had the good sense to send me to a specialist at the onset of all of this.

Thanks for your prayers....

Thanks Barb for the well wishes---I do feel a bit better every day or so, still the pain but not so much screaming out in pain, and for that I am thankful.

and yes I recall seeing the post about your sister---At some point I was able to post in the thread telling aobut her, my sympathies to you--

The ambulances around here used to be assigned to certain hospitals--and nothing could make them go to any other hospital. Then back in 1998 it got to where if you signed a lot of papers they would take you to a certain limited number of other hospitals even if they were not assigned to the one you wished to go to. But lately they have given up the ship & if they cannot talk you out of it, they will take you where you want to go. Their excuse to me that night was the time of day and heavy traffic---rolz--

Below is an update on all that is going on with me---
Next Drs visits will May 18 for the pneumonia and then the middle of June for the shoulder & spine......anyone got a score card????? haha

Well I got back from the spine Dr.last night--first they took new x-rays which is a good thing except when I had to hold my broken shoulder arm up high above my head---NOT a good feeling...

I am healing ok and if things continue in ths vein I will not need any further surgery or other treatment. clap I have 2 compression fractures (T6 & T8) not one as I thought---but hey it is not like anything had changed, It is just that I was not aware--- lol
I was told, I cannot bend over at ALL--I had been bending straight over at my waist--apparently even that is not allowed. rolz why

I go back in 4 weeks and then if all is well I guess I get to stop wearing the brace---

Thank you all for keeping me in your thoughts & prayers--it has helped me so much and is greatly apprecited. :ding: kissie

So I was a good semaratin an move the rock for the froggie.. LOL
It was funny......

Then I went under the porch to move plants an a baby squirrel run up my shoe
I had to shake it off.. Sneakers and it was able to hold on. SO I took a bucket and it ran in it......Then I deposit it outdoors. Yow

Was that a sneak attack?
