No the plumber didn't come today. I heard he is coming tomorrow! He had better! Teeth cleaning always feels so nice. I wished again I was a wealthy woman. Last September I saw a beautiful knitting bag made of hand tooled leather that Lynne would have loved and I so wanted to buy it for her! Yesterday I saw these beautiful chocolates shaped like pansies in colored foil and I wished I could get some for all of you! Oh, to be a millionaire! Merme

Good morning, everybody!
I have a lovely day planned for Maundy Thursday, and I'm so pleased. I have no medical appointments (except for the brief visit by the nurse this morning). Later today I will get dressed up and go pick up Maxi, taking him his church clothes (and new Purple T-Shirt) and we will go to church at 7. Afterwards we will have a light meal and I will give him his first gift. He will not go back to his dad's until Sunday afternoon and I'm psyched about the long visit at this holiest time of the year.
I am ever mindful that last year I was still in the hospital at this time, having been admitted early in February and missing all of Lent and our usual observances.
THIS is so much better!
YAY!
I will get a photo of Maxi in his Purple.
Time to make some coffee.

Good morning. Another busy day planned for me. I want to go to work today. It is to spit rain tomorrow and is very much growing season. I am attempting to stay on top of everything this year. There is a lot of shrubbery to cut back right now and most of my efforts are there along with weed abatement. I love my work.

They are predicting a snow/rain mix for us over the next few days. What can I say, it is April in Maine?!
I am sitting here admiring the pretty ball we bought Maxi's youngest brother. It is very large but the colorations are so nice, subtle variations of green. I think he is going to love it! and we can't wait for him to have it. Meantime, it is sitting in my living room cheering the place up.
I have GOT to remember to buy white eggs tomorrow! I've got all the dye kits AND my onion skins on hand and forgot the eggs! Yipes! My egg stash in the ice box are all brown.

I bought two dozen eggs yesterday. We ALL love to dye eggs - me and hubby maybe more so than the kids. What do you do with the onion skins? no work for me today. I took off and have a call in to the doc office. My ears have gone from bad to worse. I believe I have an infection due to allergies in BOTH ears. need some drugs! this warm coffee is making my ears tingle....feels nice....mmmmmm.

If you save a bunch of skins from yellow onions, you can put them in the water when you boil some eggs. They turn the eggs a lovely red color. Afterwards, let them air dry and then wipe them all over with oil on a paper towel and they will shine!
I hope you get relief for your sore ears. You have my deepest sympathy on that situation, Cricket!

I've never heard of that, Merme! How cool! all my onion skins get fed to the compost. But, I'll have to remember that in the future. what kind of oil do you use? vegetable oil, olive oil? still no call back from the doc office. I had head splitting pain most of the night. I slept from around 2-5. three hours sleep! I had planned on calling in to the doc office and going back to sleep, but this warm coffee fells SO good to my ears I've drank a whole pot! I'm so glad to hear everything is coming together for you so nicely for Easter, Merme. You certainly deserve it.

Any kind of oil is fine, Cricket. I usually use vegetable oil because it is a lighter texture. I am also having my coffee. The first and only cup of the morning. I usually only drink about 1/2 of it, anyway, but now I must be careful while my tummy is still healing. Short sleep is difficult to deal with. I hope your day isn't too taxing. Do you have all your Easter plans in order? I always like to notice what designs Maxi comes up with for his eggs using his crayon under the dye. I go for spring and holiday motifs and he typically draws planets, spaceships and whoknowswhats and signs his name to just about everything! We do up many eggs just for the fun of it. And I never mind that, either, because I always make pickled eggs & beets afterwards. Merme

same here. no boiled egg goes to waste no matter how many we boil up and color. we all love boiled eggs. I have a doc appt late this afternoon. I should be good as new in no time. I'm about to eat something and catch a nap. No, not all our Easter plans are in place yet. I've been working so much and dealing with the ears, when I'm off I haven't had the time or energy for much else. I'm surprised I even remembered about getting eggs yesterday.

I love the smell of bleach too, you can tell by my white clothes and towels. They're all so ratty from the gallons of bleach I use. I clean the tubs, sinks and toilets with Clorox bleach. Smells so clean and fresh.

Hi there Mark. I hope you are enjoying your autumn day!
I like bleach too & use it constantly! I like my whites to be WHITE and my bathroom & kitchen to be sparkling.
I hope Rachel buys something yummy at the likker store for ya, Afgrey. I'm still crocheting w/ my blush wine.

then you know she's gonna find out you've been talking about her. How??? I think it's against the law to drive and read on the forum at the same time. Like YOU'VE never broken the law. And as they say, like mother like daughter.

Merme good one! speaking of bleach, but not of cleaning with it..........a buddy of mine takes the blue jeans her son outgrows and draws pretty designs on them with a beach pen for her daughter to wear. I saw a pair she did. they looked awesome! I'm gonna have to try it. anyone else done anything crafty with a bleach pen? and NO, Merme. sniffing it doesn't count.

ohmygoodness, the "plumber" is here. Sorta.
As it turns out, he is a very elderly man w/ physical disabilities so he brought his wife to help him. His flashlight battery is dead. They can't find the right screwdriver's in their truck. They did manage to make a flood in the kitchen & use several of my bath towels to clean it, got the pipes apart & the trap cleaned out. And now I have no idea what they plan to do.
ohmygoodness.

Well they got it fixed!
The problem was, believe it or not, coffee grinds. I have a disposer, so I just assumed if the grinds went down the drain & I ran the disposer, they were washed away. Not so. The finer grinds end up in the trap. And over time, they can clog it completely.
Unfortunately, now the smell in here is deplorable and I'm wondering what else I can do to get rid of it besides opening the front door. It smells of rotten water.
The dishwasher is running and that will help too, I think.

Merme- do you have any vinegar... set some to boil in water on the stove.. it is a deodorizer... then when it has boiled awhile put it down the sink with some baking soda... will fizz up and help clean out the nasty smell from your pipes... if you wash the towels it will help too..I would add vinegar to that rinse water too.... doesn't take a lot. If you don't have vinigar and have cinnamon boil that on stove with cloves or other like spices = that will take out the nasty smells too. Nana

Thanks, Nana! I DO have vinegar and will get right on it!
The regular plumber was here and snaked the toilet. He laughed and said he wished all his work in a day was that easy. He fixed the problem in about 3 minutes.

Look...the copper is headed the wrong way! OK, now THAT one got me laughing!!! You guys sound like you are in a Friday night party - I've missed those a lot! It's almost 5 here - does that count? And I have some Manishevitz blackberry wine for Passover - since I am not a wine drinker, it fits the bill because it's thick and very sweet. My guys hate it just for those reasons! I have had a massive headache the past 2 days - probably not a good idea to drink now, huh?
