Actually I didn't know I had gotten two different ones * sparrows)until I uploaded on the computer,,,, they were pretty much in the same spot about 10 minutes apart,, I just took two pictures hoping to get a clear one shot of a sparrow I got lucky!!!!! I hadn't seen the deformed beak in a week or more, and the sun was in my eyes so I couldn't tell,

That IS a Mockingbird, But although that IS a Wren, it is a CAROLINA Wren, NOT a House Wren. House Wrens are smaller and VERY plain, sort of an even brown all over.

On this episode of This Old Nest, Spar Abrams shows us how to eliminate the hassle of building a new nest each year, by showing us how to patch up an old nest good as new!

I take that back. That is NOT a Wren, that is a Chipping Sparrow. The White eye line threw me and then I looked at the rest of the markings and realized what it was.

I'm so happy I've got a mockingbird. He doesn't hang around and sing like my recently departed did but maybe someday.

Thanks for the ID Thornius. I can't get this stuff correct to save me.

Your sparrow is certainly a handsome bird.

My NEW son-in-law from Scotland was at my house the other day and saw a male Cardinal for the first time and asked me, "What is the red bird over there in the tree? It's BEAUTIFUL!" I said, "That red bird would be what is commonly called a REDBIRD. It's actual name is a Northern Cardinal. It is a favorite bird that is depicted on Christmas Cards here." He got a kick out of it. He and my daughter are on their Honeymoon in Gatlinburg, TN right now. They'll be back on Thursday. Then he'll fly back to Scotland to get all his affairs in order and his stuff shipped here and my daughter will go back to Texas to get her stuff together and come back to Tennessee. They will be living here in Nashville, and will be staying staying with us until they can get a place of their own and get settled.

We are going back to the golf course again tomorrow for the second day of my sons district tournament...hopefully I can get some pictures of the Swallows I saw today...heard the Woodpecker, but couldn't find him. Saw a Red-tailed Hawk, but didn't have my camera at that moment and today was the first time I have ever seen (and photographed) the Eastern bluebird! It was such a treat! This stuff is addicting!
