yea, diane. I've never heard of anyone putting potatoes and squash in beans either? I've certainly never done it before. the mood just struck me. probably because I have been eating like a crazy person today. this past week I've had so much fast food. fast food sure tastes good sometimes, but boy can you get sick of too much of it! all weekend it seems I've been cooking and craving REAL wholesome food. I even ate cooked brocolli last night. which is odd for me, cause I like most all of my veggies raw.

We STILL don't have any rain though it has been threatening all day. I dunno about these boys. While they were sitting on the couch doing their DS games, I did some You Tube... songs designed to make you jump up and dance. They didn't budge! Louis Armstrong When The Saints Go Marching In The Tokens The Lion Sleeps Tonight The Temptations My Girl The Coasters Poison Ivy Love Potion Number 9 (I forget the group) Black Velvet. Ronnie Milssap There's A Stranger In My House Marvin Gaye I Heard It Through The Grapevine Nothing. I said "Listen to that bass! Doesn't it just get down in your soul?" Nope. "I was moving my foot, mom." said Mr. Maxi. I personally just can NOT sit still when there is something good on! Merme

I love Old time Rock and Roll. I love anything by bob segar actually! I think the Beatles did love potion number 9. and if I'm not mistaken that's one of those songs with the backward masking that was so popular back in the 70's. played backward, (if I'm remembering correctly)it says 'paul's a dead man'??? kids are different theses days aren't they......'people are strange, when your a stranger, people look ugly, when your alone'. yall know that song don't ya?

If the Beatles did a version of Love Potion #9, it was a remake. It was originally released in the 50's as part of the Doo Wop sound by an all-black group.... I can picture their faces but can't recall the name.
Gee I got so startled! When Maxi brought his bike inside, he stood it near the bookcase but didn't put the kick stand down. He just rested it against the coffee table. After he was gone, it fell over, slammed into the bookcase which rocked back and hit the wall with such a thud I jumped clear out of my chair!
His bike is too heavy for me, but I did lift it and wrangled it into a better position. When/if my girl comes tomorrow, I will have her wheel it over to in front of the sliders and put the kick stand down. Then it won't be in my way all week and I won't have to worry about it going over.

Diane, I just read your potato recipe for breakfast. When I visit I want that. It sounds good. I put potatoes in green beans. Just did that yesterday. Happy birthday to Ted. Time flies. The weather was nice today but still very windy.

They were the "Clovers" they were one of the first rhythm and blues groups to cross over into rock and roll, Love Potion #9 was their last hit in 1959 and it has been sung , recorded and distributed by many artists since then. I had to go find out Merme,,

Once, we saw Betty Everett and Jerry Butler do "Let It Be Me" on one of those reunion shows. She was apparently, quite frail at the time of the reunion and when they started to dance together, I bawled!
Sentimental softie, that's me!
I also love STAY by Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs.

LOVE IT!!!
Stay Just a little bit longer Please, please, please, please, please Tell me you're going to
Now, your daddy don't mind And your mommy don't mind If we have another dance Just one more
One more time
Oh, won't you stay Just a little bit longer Please let me hear You will say that you will
Won't you press your sweet lips To mine Won't you say you love me All of the time
Stay Just a little bit longer Please, please, please, please, please Tell me you're going to
Come on, come on Come on and stay

that song always reminds me of the movie dirty dancing. Which song, Cricket? Oh and by the way, I think it is amusing that Diane, Lynne, Afgrey and I are all about the same age and though this music pre-dates us, we love it. Maybe we heard it in the womb?! I know I heard it from my much older siblings.... Merme

Merme - that song was big in the movie Dirty Dancing!
And it didn't really predate us - I was 7 when it first came out - 1960, according to the group's website.

Lynne are you guys referring to Stay or Love Potion #9? I saw Dirty Dancing so very long ago, I just don't rmember.
I know it wasn't an exact pre-dating, but I always lump Doo Wop as 50's music and since I was born in 56, it would've been early for me to know it then.

Stay is in Dirty Dancing, which is my alltime favorite movie!
And yes... the few years younger than me makes a difference in what you might remember, but I did a search on the song and I probably also know it better from Jackson Browne - I was a big fan!

There is a Jackson Browne version of it on You Tube. I heard it earlier today.
When I was about 3 I remember my siblings listening to Baby-sitting Boogie though I've not been able to find a recording of it as an adult.

I'm a bit preturbed at my boss. I called her at 3:00pm asking what time we were meeting up for work tomorrow and then called her again at 5 something. at 5 something she actually answered the phone and said she'd call me back later. the last time she put me off like this I missed working. when she finally DID call me the day OF she was ready to walk out the door. I hadn't even showered yet, so she said don't bother. I have an important errand I NEED to do in the morning if we're not working or going in late, but I can't run off to get it taken care of if I'm STILL waiting on a phone call from her!

They were a british group like the Beatles. and I remember most of those songs as well---I am a year older than Lynne-

I have been sitting here listening to Jackson Browne on youtube!
I had forgotten many of the songs - especially "These Days" - which really speaks to me right now...
