Some flowers in the rain today

ranunculus - these are actually much brighter yellow, but this is the best job my broken camera would do.
[Linked Image]

This is the "end of the driveway garden" in the rain.
Some centaurea montana on the left, gaillardia oranges and lemons in the back, and orange calendula in front. The calendula is MUCH brighter orange than it looks - not yellow like that at all.
[Linked Image]

I had accidentally dug up these gladiola bulbs early this spring and didn't have a garden to move them to. Carol suggested potting them up in a pot. They are doing very well so far, don't you think?

Thanks Sheri! I wish you could see the ranunculus in person - they are so vivid! I have them on my deck so I can see them everytime I am at the kitchen table, or looking out the back windows. I have read that they are a short lived flowering plant here, but there are a few more buds still so I hope they last at least a little while longer. And thanks about the pounds - it's not easy but I am determined to do this!!!

And thanks so much Carol! I hope your oranges and lemons bloom nicely for you this year - it's early still and I am glad your plants came back. As you know, mine did not and I had to buy all new ones this year.

evidentially red hot poker likes poor soil, blazing sun all day, no watering or fertilizer because it is in our field. Nothing goes on in that field that nature doesn't provide.

Zinnias....
[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

1st Bloom on bleeding heart vine,, It was in a pot last year,, I thought maybe it had died. I started cutting back the old dead vines,, and cut into some green,, so i took it out of the pot and planted it in the back corner of the yard that gets enough shade under the crape myrtle,, it's now about a foot tall and starting to vine out again,, and bloom clap

loving the zinnias. Wonder if Cindy has planted zinnias again? Remember how she had such tall, thick ones in KY before? None even about to bloom here. Pretty bleeding heart.

That Pond Chive is beautiful--not that the ohters aren'y. I have never seen a multicolored lantana before---that is very nice as well.

if I had the ability and Rod would let me, I think the entire yard would be flower beds... haha blush

Carol - most of the lantana for sale around here is multi-colored. Not all in those colors, but most have around 3 colors to each flower head.

I know what you mean about an entire yard of flower beds - I would too, if we didn't have such hard dirt and boulders to dig through!!!

Diane - I do not think they are the same - my ornamental chives are in the allium family, and it says online that the pink sea thrifts are in the Plumbaginaceae family?

Thank you. I don't have as many different kinds of flowers as all of you but it's still fun to experiment with the camera and share.

That is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!! Yes I yelled Beautiful!!!!!!!! lol
I remember when you posted that either last year or the year before and have been looking for it to be posted again,, I LOVE that Honeysuckle! clap

Here is My first lily of this season,
[Linked Image]

and The coneflowers around the tree in the front yard grew extra tall this year,, They are usually only about 1/2 this height why Wonder why that happened?? If you look close in the center of the closet bunch of cone flowers you can see buds,, that is usually their height of growth, I guesstimating these are close to 3 Ft tall.

Thanks Diane. I need to hack it back this year - after it blooms - it has gotten very leggy and out of hand. I had wanted it to grow up onto the deck railing, and now that is has, it looks very unruly.

That lily is very striking! I've never seen one with that kind of coloration before.

My coneflowers grew to about 4 feet last summer. I think the older they get, the taller they get too. I won't know about this year, since they have been eaten to the ground more than once now, and are only bare sticks about 6 inches tall now.

Lynne, I don't think I've ever seen honeysuckle before, it's really neat looking.

Diane, love the lilies. I need to get me some more lilies, they're kind of turning out to be my favorites.

I can see all your pictures Cheryl - it's the hosting site. I can see picturetail too, that's where I post. I can't see Diane's or Lynne's.

Diane, I'll have to post a picture of my solid yellow lantana. Mostly around here we have solid ones.
