hello. I've got to run downstairs and get the wine my husband's customer gave him yesterday. Perfect timing. I'll put the salmon puffs in the oven and be right back with a plate to share.
The wine is California Cabernet Sauvignon. Is that any good? It looks red from the bottle. And I also have a bottle of Scotch that another customer gave him months ago. He said his father gave it to him when he graduated college back in 1944. No kidding. He's kept it all this time to give to his son when he graduated from college but his son chose an alternative lifestyle (or the lifestyle chose him) which made dad mad so he kept it. He's 80 years old and has been a client of my husbands for at least 25 years and decided to give it to him. Neither of us drink but I think I'll take a sip or the party tonight.
Oh no hope that I am not to late! Just got back from a run to the store. You will have to excuse me while I run to the kitchen and get my iced tea with Belgian chocolate toffee cream, my butter/garlic baked chicken, mac and cheese, turnip greens and chocolate cup cake.
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.
Sorry Sheri - I can't drink wine - gives me a headache, but that old bottle surely sounds interesting.
And Memosa - your dinner and drink sound very yummy too! I won't be having dinner until my husband comes home, but we are only having leftovers. Therefore I thought the shrimp would be a nice food to start things off.
wine may give me a headache too Lynne. Have only had a few sips in my entire life. Johnny just came in and asked me why I'm sitting here with two liquor bottles in front of me (since I don't drink) and asked what are those little bisquits. When I told him salmon puffs he said he's going to Cook Out to get him a burger. I told him we're have a virtual party and he said "you're nuts."
Well I am here but still have boys so will be in and out I have a feeling... I have my fruit 2O water and will leave a big tray if rolled beef and chicken tacos- with homemade salsa..... there is a big salad too with avacado and pinenuts...... will be in and out tonight till after dinner here and it is just 5 now so going to start cooking soon. All your food looks and sounds wonderful too.... and I am starving.... Nana
Thank you, Carol. I will be digging into food to be shared later, I'm sure. Your wings look scrumptious. I am trying to figure out what to bring. I'm thinking with my sweet tooth tonight but have to see what fixins are to be had in my kitchen.

I hear ya there, Tina---I too looked around to see what could be had--& I found the wings---
We can hope that Rodney did not drink all of the rum, (I saw him get into the bottle a few weeks ago)----I am sure no one would be happy with virgin strawberry daiquris.

I actually love virgin drinks as well as the real thing, Carol. When I bar tended, I was always concocting virgin drinks for the kids. That was great fun! For them and for me too.

I ate all the puffs I didn't have anything to do while the power was out.
I can tell you they were really good BUT I didn't wash them down with the wine -no corkscrew and I couldn't bring myself to even try the Scotch. Pepsi!

wonder how people get on those weight loss shows. I'd love to go to a week or two of boot camp or some type of exercise place. I've checked into them and it cost a fortune.
Thanks Tina, I missed you. I never truly left.....I mean I did, but I just wanted to take a step back for a bit. I think enough time has passed now......I'm partying because my parents and Athena return tomorrow from their trip to MI state...we have to pick them up from the train station. Sure have missed them and my daily coffee breaks.
Hello everyone.......I hope Smokey Joe is ok. We had Bubba at the vets today and Mark had him out all day. I missed him SO bad. I'm so used to being "tailed" around all day I didn't know how to act without him here.
i'm here, at least until i fall asleep on the keyboard! work was long today, we sent about 3000 students home for the summer. that is always a task. but i'm here now, and they are gone
loz i left you a message on my way home, did you get it?
sorry folks, just a side note.
now, about the weight loss thing. be careful what you wish for, i lost about 40 pounds in about 4 months on what we jokingly call the "unintended diet program" at work. besides, i've always subscribed to the theory that if i'm a little heavy there is just more of me to love!!!
sheri, if i could, i promise i would. but i can't have any cola products, no citrus (although those midori & strawberry daiquiris are so tempting)and so many other "no things" that virtual partying is all i can do these days good thing there are virtual parties to go to
Me too! I could watch it all day long. Right now it's a male couple in France I think. I guess the right house a lot. It's fun.
Jiffy, I did get it. I've been outside all night working on the garden with my MP3 player, so I didn't hear a thing....everything is shaping up lovely outside this year. We got a truck full of mulch the other day and I've got a lot of new plants.
bill, before things get to crazy, i'm praying for smokey joe too
loz, everytime the phone rang, a student walked in! we even had one walk in at 5:30 as we were leaving we showed them to the other office that was being manned until 7, and we left
Jiffy, can you just stop eating or drinking things like that? I can't just stop things or I would lay off the Pepsi. Even if the doctor told me it would kill me I don't think I could stop it easily.
I need to lose 10 pounds for real. It's hard though. My meds were upped and I think that it's made me gain a little weight. Last time I went to the dr's I'd gained 7 pounds from the last time I went. I need to cut out the soda. I did cut out mayo after seeing how much fat was in it.
Jiffy, we had a woman walk in today around 1:50, the bell had already rung to go home, with her little child with his back pack on wanting to register him for kindergarten. School is out June 9th. I couldn't believe it. I guess she thought he would get to stay today too.
Johnny just came home and he brought me a bowl of strawberry ice cream. I have to eat it since he brought it upstairs for me. Right????? I just started eating strawberry last Saturday. I've always eaten nothing but chocolate but I got a craving for strawberry for some reason and got a cone last Saturday.
lynne, i won't say wasn't glad to see it go, but i do wish it had been the "right" way. but methotrexate will do that to you i'm so glad to be off that.
and, you wanna know the bad thing? i ate ice cream ALL the time the whole time i was on it. you'd have thought i would have gained weight!
now if my hair will just come back without bringing the pounds, i'd be good
I am addicted to soda. Although not caffeine. I cut it out 5-6 years ago cold turkey. Not good for panicky people to have lots of caffeine. I have caffeine free Coke. I don't like Pepsi, but that's all Mark drinks as far as soda. He doesn't like Coke.
Sheri, do you remember years ago when they had Crystal Clear Pepsi in the 90's? I remember drinking that in high school.
sheri, i quit the cola cold turkey years ago. quit tea cold turkey in october (ask loz about that one, i was at her house! right loz? )
loz, i know i gained weight on that med. but not too much. there are others that will pack on the pounds. and, as i have found out, some that will skin it right off you
Just dropping in to say a quick HI to Diane... she seems to be overlooked in all the other greetings.
Hi Di!!!
Merme
We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Hi Merme Did you get something to drink as you came in or are you sticking to crocheting tonight
I'm sticking to doubles, Diane... double crochet, that is!

carol! if ellie hadn't been sick, you'd have heard from me before now.
and, listen to tina on those fish oil caps. they work. my dr told me she didn't want me on any more meds, but was worried about my cholestorol, so she told me to get them. i got my numbers down over 100 points in 6 months. AND that was only taking them part time because there were times i was too sick to take them (or they didn't stay down )
and, i never quit eating what i wanted. including full fat ice cream yum! and bacon for breakfast... and, i could go on, but it is too late for me to eat anymore.
loz, i remember crystal clear pepsi. and "new" coke. and so many of those things.
i'm glad your garden is coming together. i did at least clean my pond this past week. first time in ages. and i had a BAD case of string algea. but it is crystal clear now
and carol, they do NOT make you smelly. and, if you take them with food, they don't give you indigestion either. i carry a small bottle of them in my purse.
merme, i thought about you and crocheting the other day. i saw a recipe, uh, pattern for crocheted barbeque holders it was in my lion brand news letter.
carol! if ellie hadn't been sick, you'd have heard from me before now.

O K I will get some---- do you just follow the package directions???

I'm sorry you lost the weight so quickly from being sick - I was just saying that I really need to lose the weight and also lower my cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood presssure. But I've been pretty good the past 2 weeks and have lost 8 lbs - it's at the tough part now - keeping it up.
I quit drinking soda years ago - pretty much when we moved into our house - so about 15 1/2 years now - I strictly drink water now - always have a glass or travel mug with me of water. It's pretty easy to do once you get started.
carol, i'm supposed to take 4 caps a day, but was so sick for so long that all i could take was 3. they are 1000 mg each. i get the cheapest walmart has. and even though they are larger, they are easy to swallow.
there really aren't any directions to follow. just take them 1-3 times a day, what ever works for you. for me, it is just one shot of 3 at night. with the other dozen pills i have to take. i save them to last, they taste the best and are the easiest to take.
gosh Lynne that's great 4 pounds a week. Did you increase your exercise too.
Thanks Sheri but I do think it is mostly the water weight that one loses right away and then you hit the plateau. I am having a medical exam next week for some insurance and we want to get the lower premium, so I am trying my best to be in better health. Should have started long ago though!
I am going to ask my doctor about those pills next time I see her - I am on high blood pressure meds now, but she wanted me on cholesterol meds too - I was on lipotor for a short time but it made me so sick I stopped them. My dr. was not happy because the numbers were better - but at what cost? I didn't want to feel worse so my cholesterol would be better - crazy!
carol, not sure about a new thread, i think we should let this one be like the new member's post. since at midnight pacific we'll lock it anyway. and, unfortunately, ellie isn't better and the drs aren't sure what is exactly wrong. they were thinking kidney stones, but it's not that so not sure what. i'll give you the full scoop another time. don't want to drag the party down.
cricket and all who i might have missed
lynne, that's good on the weight good for you. hang in there. it will come off.
ok folks, i'm outta here. the sleepies have caught and passed me see y'all later
lynne--I wish I had of thought to ask my dr--but there is so much I cannot take--so I am often wary of new meds---but a vitamin (basically) would likley be ok i am going to speak to my pharmasist & then get some I think

"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Both my kids are out now - Amy got off the train from work at 11 tonight and picked up a friend and drove to another friend's house about 20 minutes up the road, and Brian just went out at 12:15a.m.!!!
How is a mother supposed to sleep with those schedules???
EEEWWWWW, Plants. I dread the day when my kidos get that old. And, I regret the days when I put my parents through that. reminds me of the time my dad showed up at my boyfriends house (now hubby) at 2am with a shot gun in one hand and my mom still in her robe. 'we fell asleep playing video games' I say - days.
